Pierre Robert has died at the age of 70. Remembering the DJ, Jon Bon Jovi wrote on his Instagram:

"Today we lost a great friend. Someone who truly LOVED music. All types of music. Someone who loved musicians. Not just famous ones, or chart toppers. He admired local artists and tomorrows rising stars. This man was as curious as he was clever, he was a real musicologist. He knew your influence and your influences. He was a loyal friend. He didn’t care if you were the fad or the fashion of the moment. He just cared. And that mattered."

He continued:

"His voice helped the hungry and the homeless, and he did it because he cared.. About you, about me, about making the world a little kinder wonder filled place to live.. his memory will live with us as it will with all of the people he touched. That man is Pierre Robert The legendary DJ at WMMR"

Beasley Media Group first announced the news of Pierre Robert's passing, but the cause of death has not been revealed. The news has come as a shock to many, with Pierre's friends and celebrities paying tribute to the late radio personality.

Tributes pour in following the death of Pierre Robert

Paying a tribute to Pierre Robert, Ryan Echols wrote on Instagram:

"I can’t even count how many other musical deaths I remember experiencing and it was your voice who came in at any and all hours to help the world navigate the tragedy of losing a voice that can mean so much to so many and now who do we have to navigate yours? The void and silence is deafening."

He continued:

"You were a titan of the radio, a music legend, and someone who over the years I had many pleasant encounters with. You spoke up for the little man, promoted our city of Philadelphia, and screamed from the top of the tallest buildings of the power of Rock N Roll. You told us to love one another and that every single soul matters and that you care if one more light goes out."

Wrestler Brian Heffron wrote on Instagram:

"OH NO! Rest in peace to the LEGEND Pierre Robert from @933wmmr! Like many others, I grew up with his voice on my radio. This is devastating. Godspeed!"

Bob Burke wrote on Facebook:

"He was a one-of-a-kind radio personality who had a real impact on people. We both shared a love for The Hooters! His Christmas Eve shows were original and spectacular year after year. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had so many people call or text me about someone’s passing. Pierre was that voice you wanted or maybe even needed to hear."

Bill Conn, one of Pierre Robert's close friends, wrote a long tribute on Facebook:

"Consistently, for nearly 15 years, Pierre has been my closest friend. He was quite literally the only person in my life that I could 1000% confide in and feel safe to talk about absolutely anything with. When we talked, either in a loud busy Rittenhouse Park, at his house, sitting in a venue parking lot or over a quiet dinner, there was nothing and no one else. He listened to you, as if you were the only person in the world."

He further added:

"I loved this man, he loved me, and we told each other the same at every opportunity we had. I’m devastated that he is gone, and I expect to feel empty for a while, but I feel so lucky that I have had the pleasure and the privilege of having a friendship so beautiful and so full of trust and joy and vulnerability and love for the time that we had. Philadelphia will mourn a radio legend, I will mourn a legendary friend."
