Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan met for the first time in 2003. It was during Harvard University's college party. Talking to the New Yorker about how she first recognized him, she revealed:

"He was this nerdy guy who was just a little bit out there. I remember he had these beer glasses that said ‘pound include beer dot H.’ It’s a tag for C++. It’s like college humor but with a nerdy, computer-science appeal."

In a recent Instagram post uploaded on October 29, Mark Zuckerberg congratulated her wife, Priscilla Chan, who won the WSJ Innovator of the Year award, writing:

"Proud of my amazing wife"

Congratulating her, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative also wrote on Facebook:

"Every day she brings her whole self to this organization, driving it forward with equal parts optimism and discipline. We are lucky to have her visionary leadership guiding our mission to help scientists cure, prevent, or manage all disease."

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan's relationship timeline explored

In 2010, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Priscilla Chan would be moving in with him at his Palo Alto home. Two years later, the couple got married in an intimate wedding held in Palo Alto.

Three years later, the couple welcomed a daughter whom they named Maxima "Max." The same year, they also founded the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Celebrating their daughter's first birthday, Mark Zuckerberg wrote on Instagram:

"I can't believe it's been a year! And she kissed me on the cheek for the first time yesterday :). Here's to many more years of happiness and health for Max and all children around the world."

A year later, the couple announced their second pregnancy. Admiring Priscilla Chan, he wrote on Instagram:

"Priscilla, I'm grateful for all you do to raise Max and all you will do for our new daughter on her way. I'm grateful to my mother for raising me with love and to all mothers out there for the important and challenging work you do every single day to make your family and the whole world a little bit better."

The couple welcomed their daughter, August, in 2017 and their third daughter, Aurelia, in 2023, becoming the parents of three kids.

The same year, the couple also celebrated their 20th anniversary.

The caption of Mark Zuckerberg’s Instagram post read:

"20 years since our first date. We met at a going away party my friends threw for me in college when they thought I was about to get kicked out of school. I asked her out but told her we'd need to go out soon since I might only have a few days left. Later on I started Facebook, we got married, and now have three wonderful girls. What a wild ride."

Along with Mark Zuckerberg, Priscilla Chan also uploaded an Instagram post on November 13, 2023, with the caption:

"20 years since our first date. He still makes me laugh all the time and we are never short wild adventures. And now we have 3 little ladies riding along with us!"
