More on what happened at Ca$h Out's recent trial
During the trial on Friday in Georgia, text messages between the rapper, Ca$h Out, and his alleged victims were shown in court. Since the trial began in June, prosecutors have argued that John used his status as a musician to lure women into sex work. They say that these women were promised careers, as well as financial and personal benefits.
Ca$h Out is also accused of using his label, Pyrex Music Group, to hire women from social media and get them involved in commercial sexual activities. His mother, Linda Smith, also known as Mama Ca$h, is named as a co-defendant in the case, along with another individual, Tyrone Taylor, who is believed to be involved in the crimes as well.
As per reports by XXL, the jury has so far heard testimonies from multiple women who alleged that John had them perform sex acts for money, which they had to hand over to him. The jury was also shown the footage of Ca$h Out's arrest, which took place during a prostitution sting in Gwinnett County, Ga. Among the women who testified was one who alleged that she was held against her will, raped, and forced into prostitution by Ca$h Out and Tyrone Taylor at a motel in Fulton County, Ga.
Furthermore, the prosecutors are also accusing John and his mother, Linda Smith, of intimidating the witnesses in the case. Taking jail calls as evidence, prosecutors found out that Gibson was asking his mother to locate the women involved in the case to prevent them from testifying in court. In one such incident, Smith was found to have contacted a woman who was arrested during the prostitution sting at a physical therapy clinic.
However, when she was interrogated, she said that she was there only to see a friend. Among the women who testified against John was also his ex-girlfriend, who alleged that Gibson made her collect money from sex workers. Although his defense team denied the claims, if convicted, he could face 25 years in prison.
