Diddy's s*x trafficking and racketeering trial is in its fifth week, and on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the lead prosecutor, Assistant U.S. Attorney Maurene Comey, requested the judge to remove juror no. 6 from the trial.
Lack of candor was the reason cited by the prosecutor, as per People Magazine. The judge Arun Subramanian said that he will address the matter by the end of this week after he gets the written submissions from the defense as well as the prosecutors.
Diddy, also known as Sean Combs, had been charged with serious federal charges including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation for prostitution.
More about why the prosecution wants Juror No. 6 to be dismissed from Diddy's trial
On Wednesday, the lead prosecutor said that they wanted Juror No. 6 to be dismissed. The prosecutor said:
''It appeared to be a lack of candor with the court that raises serious issues with us. We did not want to do this. We were compelled to do that.''
Other than a lack of candor, no reason has been cited so far. The defense team, however, disagrees with the removal of the juror. Diddy's lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, said that the government is trying to remove the juror because they are Black, although the government is citing some other reason.
For context, the jury consists of twelve people, among whom eight are men and four are women. According to ABC News, this was not the first time there was an issue with the jurors. During the first trial, when both teams were choosing the jurors, Combs' lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, had said that the prosecutors were being biased as they used most of their allowed juror removals on Black people.
However, the judge had disagreed and said that the prosecutors had given neutral reasons for removal, and it had nothing to do with their race. This week, Jane, one of Comb's ex-girlfriends, will be testifying several times in court. Jane has testified to enduring drug-fueled freak-offs, physical and emotional abuse from Diddy during their relationship.
Jane also told the court about Combs threatening to stop paying her rent and releasing her explicit videos if she refused to participate in the freak-offs, as reported by GMA. The Prosecutors then argued over how Combs used his power and wealth to abuse women, including Jane and the singer Cassie Ventura, also Combs's then-girlfriend. Cassie was one of the first individuals to testify against him. She had given a long, detailed, and emotional testimony describing the physical, emotional, and s*xual abuse she had endured from Combs during their on-and-off relationship.
Combs is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him; however, if convicted, he will be facing life imprisonment.
