The Royal family's express support for Pride Month
The Royal Family celebrated Pride on July 5, with the Pride Parade and a special performance by the Royal band. The parade reportedly took place from Hyde Park Corner to Whitehall Place.
According to Hello Magazine, the family has expressed support for the community over the years. In a 2016 cover of the Attitude magazine, Prince William expressed his sentiments after meeting activists from LGBTQI+. He noted,
"No one should be bullied for their s*xuality or any other reason and no one should have to put up with the kind of hate that these young people have endured in their lives.."
He also advised individuals who have experienced bullying to reach out for support, following in his mother, Princess Diana's footsteps, who has been heralded for her support to the community. He added,
"Don’t put up with it – speak to a trusted adult, a friend, a teacher, Childline, Diana Award or some other service and get the help you need. You should be proud of the person you are and you have nothing to be ashamed of."
The Royal band's tribute to Pride Month was met with mixed reactions from netizens. However, many supported the gesture and credited the family for acknowledging inclusivity and annual celebrations of the LGBTQI+ community.
