iShowSpeed gets a short stint as FIFA President with Gianni Infantino’s approval

iShowSpeed attended the Inter Miami vs. Al Ahly Club World Cup match on June 16, 2025, and briefly became "FIFA President" for a minute. At some point during the game, Gianni Infantino, FIFA’s number one man, excused himself for a minute, but before leaving, he chose iShowSpeed, who was sitting nearby as his replacement.

The interaction went thus:

Infantino: So you want to be FIFA President for one minute? You want to be FIFA President?

A shocked Speed readily accepted and put on Infantino’s jacket over his jersey and shorts, jokingly saying:

“Ohhhhh….. I'm the FIFA President. Ronaldo is winning the World Cup. I'm the FIFA President.

iShowSpeed appeared to be ignored by Messi at the Inter Miami v Al Ahly match

A viral video from the Inter Miami v Al Ahly match on June 15, 2025, appeared to show Lionel Messi ignoring iShowSpeed. As the two teams exited the tunnel for the second half of the Inter Miami v Al Ahly match, a viral clip showed Speed attempting to get the attention of football icon Lionel Messi.

Still, the latter greeted others and walked away. Speed, seemingly stunned at seeing the 8-time Ballon d’Or winner, said on his livestream:

“Chat, was that just Messi? No way, I just missed Messi. Ain’t no way. I was just dumb close to Messi, bro. I’m scared.”

The streamer added:

”We still got a chance, man. I didn’t expect it. When I saw him, I was like, Messi, right? “I was about to go up to him. He walked past, and I was like ‘Oh, that’s him right there. That’s Messi. I was about to go up to him, and the bodyguard was like ‘What are you doing?'”

The 15-second interaction sparked an online debate as some Netizens stated that Messi had ignored Speed because of his vocal support of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Messi v Ronaldo debate.

Others didn't read too much into the clip, arguing that Messi had already walked off before Speed called out his name. iShowSpeed, who attended the June 15 Club World Cup game in a Cristiano Ronaldo jersey, then attempted to persuade former Argentina and Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero to set up a meeting between him and Messi.

Aguero asked:

'You're a very big fan of Cristiano, no?'

When Speed responded in the affirmative and added that he also wanted to meet Messi, Aguero stated:

'I respect it, it's OK. He's a good player. I prefer Messi, of course.'

The former Manchester City player also took the opportunity to take a swipe at Ronaldo, who isn't playing at the Club World Cup:

'Ronaldo is playing here now at the Club World Cup or no?' he quipped. 'Maybe he'll have to watch on TV.'

Speed then predicted that Ronaldo would lead his country to a World Cup victory, to which Aguero replied:

'[Ronaldo] just won the [Euros], no?' Ah, the Nations League... congratulations.'
