Word on the streets is that Kanye West, legally known as Ye West, has changed his name to Ye Ye West. The US Sun, on June 10, 2025, reported that new business documents filed by the rapper’s chief financial officer, Hussain Lalani, with the State of California indicate that West’s first name is now Ye Ye.

According to the news outlet, Ye’s businesses referred to him on their latest Statement of Information documents filed with California’s Secretary of State as Ye Ye. Ox Paha Inc, one of the Gold Digger rapper’s companies, has referred to him as Ye Ye on official documents.

His other businesses, like Yeezy Apparel, Getting Out Dreams Inc. and Yeezy Record Label LLC, have also begun referring to the rapper as Ye Ye. The rapper hasn’t released an official statement to confirm or debunk the rumors of his name change yet.

Why did Kanye West change his name in 2021? Details explored as the rapper changes name yet again

The All of the Lights rapper, previously known as Kanye West, had altered his legal name to Ye West in 2021. The rapper reportedly filed documents in Los Angeles in August 2021 to change his name from Kanye to Ye for “personal reasons.”

The request was granted in October 2021, and the Los Angeles Superior Court documents declared:

"There being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted," the document reads. "The Decree is signed and filed. The Petitioner's name is changed from KANYE OMARI WEST to YE."

Before approving the name change in 2021, the rapper hinted in 2018 that he would change his name following the release of his smash album Ye. Kanye West, in an interview with radio host Big Boy, explained the religious significance of the name Ye:

"I believe 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible, it means 'you.' So I'm you, I'm us, it's us. It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye — just being a reflection of our good, bad, confusion, everything. The album is more of a reflection of who we are."

The controversial rapper had recently stormed out of an UNCENSORED interview with Piers Morgan in May, 2025, after the latter had called him Kanye. Ye took to his X to reiterate that his name was Ye.
