Celebrity attorney and trial lawyer Mark Geragos has reportedly responded after prosecutors slammed Sean 'Diddy' Combs' defence team for seeking counsel. Only a day into the trial and prosecutors have slammed Diddy's defence team for seeking in court consultation from Geragos.

The lawyer hasn't been named as an official member of Diddy's defence team, leading to further objections. A letter was reportedly sent to Judge Arun Subramaniam stating that he appeared in court without prior notice, per Hollywood Reporter. Prosecutors alleged that his appearance in court had an ā€œapparent role as an advisor to the defendant.ā€ When asked about his role in the case and if he had been advising Diddy, Mark Geragos told CNN,

ā€œI’m here to support my daughter. (Combs) is a friend."

Sean Combs is standing trial this month, with jury selection starting on Monday, May 5, 2025. According to CBS News, opening statements will be made by the defendant and prosecutor on May 12, 2025. Prosecutors have raised objections about Mark Geragos's presence since Monday in the courtroom. While Geragos has reportedly claimed that he is not "entering the case", prosecutors have written a letter to judge Subramaniam.

According to Geragos' legal firm website, he has previously been associated with multiple "high-profile cases", including Michael Jackson, Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, Mike Tyson, and others. Prosecutors have demanded that if he is involved with the case, he should follow the rules as other attorneys.

This comes after Geragos has been publicly speaking about Sean Combs' case on his podcast, Reasonable Doubt. According to CNN, transcripts obtained from the robing room revealed the judge had challenged Geragos after he made comments about the prosecution team on his podcast and called them a ā€œsix pack of white women.ā€ To which Geragos reportedly responded,

ā€œI think when you’ve got a Black man who’s being prosecuted and the client feels like he’s being targeted, it’s a – it’s an observation.ā€

The judge revealed he will be "listening" and such comments will not be tolerated.

As Sean Combs' trial unfolds, numerous developments are expected in the upcoming days. While Mark Geragos has clarified that he is not on the defense team, he noted that he is Sean's "friend" and will be supporting his "daughter." It is unclear how his role will be defined in the upcoming days.
