Meet Brandon Blackstock’s former stepmother, Reba McEntire, and his famous parents

Brandon Blackstock, stepson to Reba McEntire, passed away from cancer on August 7, 2025, at the age of 48, as per USA Today. Formerly married to Kelly Clarkson, Blackstock is survived by some famous relatives. The talent manager’s father, Narvel Blackstock, married country music royalty, Reba McEntire, in 1989.

Narvel Blackstock and McEntire had a son together named Shelby Blackstock. McEntire separated from Blackstock in 2015 after 26 years of marriage.

Her decision was announced on her website:

"Despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other. They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so. They have asked that you respect their privacy during this time.”

Although McEntire was no longer married to Brandon Blackstock’s father, she continued in her role as his stepmother and referred to his kids as her grandchildren.

In a 2018 interview with PEOPLE, the I’m a Survivor hitmaker referred to Blackstock’s children as her grandchildren:

“I don’t ever see the grandchildren. It was a lot better when everybody was not so busy, but I’ve got seven grandchildren, so they’re scattered all over the country and busy doing stuff. But I love them.”

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2020, McEntire referred to Brandon Blackstock as her son.

"Brandon’s been my son forever, it seems. Although he’s my stepson, I still love him like he’s my total — my blood, so I’m praying for them both because I love them both.”

Brandon Blackstock's father is a popular figure within the entertainment industry. His father, Narvel Blackstock, is a talent manager with an impressive portfolio, managing Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire, and Kelly Clarkson. He founded Starstruck Entertainment alongside his ex-wife, Reba McEntire, in 1988.

Narvel Blackstock became Kelly Clarkson’s manager in 2008. Brandon Blackstock took over the position when he married Clarkson in 2013. Brandon Blackstock’s mother is less famous in Hollywood and now goes by Elisa Gilbert.

The talent manager married Stronger hitmaker Clarkson in 2013 and finally settled an acrimonious divorce in 2022. They had two children together, River, 11, and Remington, 9.
