Post-folk artist, Dolly Mavies, took to Instagram to explain why she decided to leave the venue of a gig after she and her bandmates found out who was attending. Mavies, who plays with her partner, Adrian Banks, started her Instagram story rant by saying:

"So, some of you may have seen Adrian's story and know about this, but I thought I would let you know that today we got booked for a show, somewhere we've played before, really nice venue, lovely people... but when we got there, weird kind of feeling, premonition."

She continued to explain and revealed that American vice president, JD Vance, was going to be in attendance. She said:

"Adrian was totally on the money and realized that the vice president was going to be there, and that's why we've been booked to play, to entertain him."

She concluded with a brutal truth and words of advice, saying:

"So, not being fans of his... We decided that that wasn't for us, and we packed up our stuff and left. Because morals are more important than money, and you shouldn't have to do stuff you don't want to do. Whether or not you're being paid or invited, and you definitely should be told ahead of time. So, use your voice, speak up, and don't do anything you don't want to do."

Dolly Mavies sheds more light on why she left a booked gig

After posting the short explanation as to why she felt they had to leave the booked gig, Dolly Mavies also posted a few photos of herself with Adrian Banks and a few random shots. She wrote in the caption:

"An interesting day to say the least... turning down a possibly once in a lifetime opportunity, for all the right reasons!"

She continued to elaborate:

"Standing up for what you believe in, is important. It can be difficult, and circumstances can try and persuade you and tempt you otherwise, but ultimately there's a price to pay for standing on the wrong side of history. I know the news is 'boring' 'doom and gloom' 'always sad' 'just too much for me right now' but real life is happening everywhere and we can't escape it. Lives are being changed, taken, ruined, altered, and it's important to make a stand."

Dolly Mavies concluded by saying:

"I know you may feel helpless, but even a tiny action can make a difference. Your voice is there to speak the truth and support those who have been silenced."

Dolly Mavies explained that she and her band members left a booked gig after learning that the US vice president JD Vance would be in attendance. The reason behind this, according to Mavies, is moral opposition. She emphasized the importance of standing by one's beliefs, even when it means turning down big opportunities.
