A new look image has been dropped for Superman, and it has sparked a fresh wave of excitement amongst fans. Superman will be hitting theaters on July 11, 2025, and will mark the beginning of a new chapter for the Man of Steel. The trailer and teasers have introduced several new elements to the audience, most notably Krypto the Super Dog and androids, and have done a great job of giving fans something new to look forward to.
In the image now going viral on social media, we see Superman sharing a moment with Krypto the Super Dog, who has quickly become a fan favorite in the franchise. The conversation takes place at the Fortress of Solitude, featuring one of the robots standing by the glowing crystalline structures, perfectly capturing the fortress's chilly, icy vibe. The new images dropped on social media also caught the attention of fans on social media who gave their two cents on the matter.
One fan quipped:
"Whatever he is yelling at Krypto for he didn’t do it…"
Another fan recounted the trailer as he poked fun at the situation:
"Superman chastising Krypto for breaking more of his bones instead of just taking him to the Fortress when he saw him."
Another fan noted:
"Judging by the released stills, it looks like 95% of this movie is set at the Fortress of Solitude with Krypto front and center"
Another commented:
"Imagine if this flops. Will never see a DC character on the screen for years like what ‘Batman & Robin’ did in the late 90s"
A fifth fan exclaimed:
"Most Superman image I've ever seen, this movie will be beautiful"
Yet another fan surmised:
"It's still too soon to call anything from this movie "the best x" of any Superman movie, but I've seen enough to say that definitely this movie has the best Fortress of Solitude in any Superman film or TV Show in live action. It's comic accurate and it looks so great."
With the casting of David Corenswet being the Man of Steel and the addition of Krypto the Super Dog, the movie gives a human touch to the beloved superhero franchise and makes him more relatable to the viewers as well. David Corenswet recently revealed in an interview how he went about playing the role of the Son of Krypton:
"I started in the gym. That was the second thing James said to me was 'I want to work on your shoulders and your vulnerability. And so, about a month into my intense gym routine I realized that I was preparing the role mentally by spending every day, several hours, by myself, lifting very heavy things."
He then went on to add:
"There's a certain solitude that comes in the gym. You're just there with yourself and you're the only one holding yourself accountable. I think Superman has a certain solemn loneliness to him, where he wants so desperately to be connected to humanity, and he'll never quite be one of them, so I found a little piece of that early on."
With James Gunn at the helm, the upcoming movie aims to revitalize the DCU by modernizing the franchise and expanding the scope of the DCU beyond its traditional narratives. While setting up The Man of Steel as the cornerstone of the DC movie empire, the movie sets up the stage for more DC projects like The Authority and The Batman Part II.
