On October 1, two regional jets operated by Endeavor Air, a Delta Air Lines carrier, collided at New York’s LaGuardia Airport. According to Fox News, the incident occurred at 9:58 pm. One was an outbound flight, while the other was inbound. The outbound flight was numbered 5155, and the inbound flight was 5047.

The report mentions that flight 5155 came into contact with 5047’s fuselage. The former had 32 people onboard, while the latter had 57, Fox News reports. When the incident occurred, flight 5047’s pilot told the passengers:

“It seems as though there's an aircraft that collided with us.”

The accident resulted in the injury of one flight attendant, who received medical attention at the scene and was then taken to a hospital. In a statement, Morgan Durrant, a spokesperson for the airline, said:

“Delta teams at our New York-LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low-speed collision during taxi.”

The statement went on:

“Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience.”

After the incident, travelers were safely evacuated from the flights and were provided food, water, and accommodation. The Port Authority also announced that the incident did not affect airport operations.

Here’s what the passengers and one of the pilots said about the Delta flights' collision

CBS News producer Joey Annunziato, who was also a passenger on the inbound flight, said the crash was rough, and at first, they didn’t know what the plane had hit. He described the sound as like a can being torn open, and when they looked, the plane’s wing seemed almost broken off. One passenger from the inbound flight told WCNC:

“We were taking a right off of the main runway and all of a sudden, you feel the brakes go on and you see this object turn across the left side of the plane. You feel the front of the plane just kinda get dragged to the right and you can physically feel like in your seat you are moving to the right.”

Sharing an update via air control radio, one of the pilots said:

“Their right wing clipped our nose and the cockpit. We have damage to our windscreen and some of our screens in here.”

Meanwhile, another passenger, William Lusk, said that right after the plane landed, it suddenly stopped, shook, and moved to the side. Everyone onboard became silent, and then the pilot calmly announced that the plane had collided and asked everyone to stay calm.
