Worry is growing among Dolly Parton's fans after her sister, Freida, asked the public to join her in praying for the country legend, who's reportedly been under the weather since postponing his Las Vegas residency.
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, Freida took to Facebook to write a lengthy, heartfelt message to share an update about her sister.
"Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me."
Freida accompanied her post with a photo of Dolly Parton, who appears to be praying as she gazes overhead. The icon's sister continued:
"She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!"
On Sunday, Sept. 28, Dolly Parton announced the postponement of her Las Vegas residency for a year to focus on her health. The "Islands in the Stream" songstress penned a letter to address the concerns of her fans.
“As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!"
She continued:
"In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You see good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you."
Dolly Parton assures fans she’s not “stopping yet” after postponing Vegas residency
Dolly Parton's performance at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace would've marked her first extended concert run in Las Vegas in over three decades. The residency has now been rescheduled to kick off in September 2026.
But despite the health scare, which came after her husband Carl Dean's passing last March, Dolly Parton remains optimistic about the future. She concluded her message:
"And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
The country legend's husband of 58 years passed away earlier this year at 82 years old. At the time of his death, Dolly Parton took to her social media page to announce the news, while also thanking everyone who expressed their support in her time of mourning.
"Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy."
