A new police report reveals that the husband of social media influencer Emilie Kiser left their three-year-old son unsupervised for almost ten minutes before the child drowned in the family’s backyard pool. The incident took place in May in Chandler, Arizona, while Emilie was away from home [NBC News, Aug. 9 2025].

Brady Kiser, 28, was taking care of the couple’s two children at the time, their son Trigger and a newborn baby. He initially told police he had lost sight of Trigger for only three to five minutes. However, surveillance video reviewed by the Chandler Police Department showed otherwise, according to a report by NBC News.

The footage showed Trigger outside alone for nearly ten minutes and in the pool for about seven minutes before he was found. The report indicates that Brady’s account of his actions during that time did not match what the video showed.

Police findings on the incident

He was outside by himself for more than nine minutes, according to the Chandler (Arizona) Police Department report, obtained Aug. 8 by The Arizona Republic.

When questioned again, Brady allegedly admitted he had been sitting on the couch inside the house. He was watching an NBA playoff game and had placed a $25 bet on the outcome of the match. The report states that he could not describe one thing Trigger did after going outside.

According to the police, these details show Brady was unaware of what his son was doing and was not supervising him. The report concluded that any change to the circumstances including active supervision, could have prevented the drowning.

Legal action and court decision

As reported by The Post Millenial on August 9, 2025, Chandler police recommended a felony child abuse charge against Brady after their investigation. However, prosecutors decided not to move forward with criminal charges. The reasons for this decision were not explained in detail in the public record.

The release of the police report happened alongside a court matter involving Emilie Kiser. She had filed to keep certain details of the case sealed, arguing that public release could lead to harmful misuse of the information online. She told the court that people could create AI recreations of the tragedy that might go viral.

On Friday, the Maricopa County Superior Court ruled that two pages of the report would remain sealed. The judge said the sealed pages would only satisfy “morbid curiosity” and could be used by bad actors. Most of the report, however, was made public.

The drowning of Trigger Kiser has raised questions about supervision and accountability in child safety incidents. While the police investigation suggested criminal charges, prosecutors chose not to pursue the case. The court’s decision to keep parts of the report sealed reflects concern about the potential misuse of sensitive information in the digital age.
