The custody battle between rapper DDG and singer-actress Halle Bailey has gained wide public attention. Now, DDG’s brother, known online as DuB, has added another layer to the discourse. During a recent Instagram Live, he said he fears that the judge in the case could rule unfairly based on her mood, especially if the judge is a woman.
DuB said judges are human and, like everyone, can have good or bad days. He explained that if a female judge had a negative personal experience or was having a bad day, it might affect her decision. He also pointed out that the same concern could apply to a male judge if he had personal views about custody.
Why is DDG’s brother concerned about a female judge?
As reported by Hypefresh on May 30, 2025, during a recent Instagram Live session, DDG’s brother voiced his concerns about the ongoing custody battle between DDG and Halle Bailey. His main worry centered around the possibility of judicial bias, particularly the idea that a judge’s personal mood or life situation could influence their decision in court.
He pointed out the human side of the legal process, saying:
“And then one disagreement, you put your shit into the hands of a lady or a man that’s working a nine to five.”
Expanding on this idea, he added that a judge’s personal life might affect how they rule:
“If that judge has a bad—let’s say if the judge, right, is beefing with his wife and he can’t see his kid, he gonna go into that courtroom and take every father’s side. Let’s say a mama is mad at her husband, the judge.”
He went on to emphasize the unpredictability that comes with relying on a judge’s emotional state:
“These niggas have bad days just like us. That is a nine to five worker. She has a bad day just like us.”
According to him, the outcome could shift depending on how the judge feels that day:
“So depending on if that lady coming there, she had a good night last night, she come in there open-headed, listening, then that’s the only time you have a chance. But these people have days, these people have bad days, good days, fucked up days, just like us, bro.”

What does the law say about judges and bias?
As reported by The Economic Times on May 28, 2025, judges in the U.S. are required to follow the law and evaluate evidence without bias. They must look at facts presented in court and make fair decisions. If a judge shows clear signs of bias, legal action can be taken to remove them from the case.
In most cases, there is no proof that personal feelings affect a judge’s ruling. Courts also allow both sides to present their case and respond to each other’s claims.
According to People Magazine, DDG is seeking to prevent Halle Bailey from taking their son out of the country. He says he is worried about the child’s safety and wants to ensure he stays in the U.S. until the court makes a final ruling.
Halle Bailey, on the other hand, has filed her documents in court. She says she has been trying to protect herself and her child. In past court filings, she shared messages and text conversations with him that show their relationship has been strained.
