Sean “Diddy” Combs has taken new steps while waiting for his sentencing. As per the report by TMZ, the 55‑year‑old music mogul is staying at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center. He has now signed up for programs meant to help with violence and drug use. This news comes as he waits for his October 3 court date.

Diddy was found guilty on July 2 of two charges tied to prostitution. These charges can carry up to 10 years in prison each. The rapper was cleared on more serious counts, like sex trafficking and racketeering. After the verdict, the judge refused to let him out on bail. He will remain in custody until sentencing.

Diddy's in‑prison programs and therapy

As per Page Six, inside the detention center, Diddy has enrolled in a few programs aimed at guiding behavior change. One is the STOP Program, run by federal authorities. It focuses on stopping sexual assault and violence in relationships. He is also attending regular therapy sessions. In addition, he even joined the Dr. Harry K. Wexler drug treatment program. This he began even before his September 2024 arrest. Sources told TMZ that he is serious about improving himself.

Still, some people alleged these actions can possibly be part of a plan. They allege it is not unusual for people facing prison time to join such programs to show the judge they want to change. Critics reportedly say the move might influence his sentence.

Legal background and next steps

Diddy’s trial began in May 2025. After weeks of testimony, the jury found him not guilty on the racketeering and sex trafficking charges. But he was convicted on two counts of transporting people for prostitution.

During the trial, jurors heard from many witnesses. This included Diddy’s former partner, Cassie Ventura, who said she was abused. Allegedley, as per the reports by People, the judge kept him in custody, calling him a flight risk and a danger to others.

Both sides met in court again on July 8. They agreed to set the final sentencing date as October 3. Sentencing reports are due in September. Prosecutors want a 51 to 63‑month sentence - about 4 to 5 years. Diddy’s team is suggesting 21 to 27 months.

Under federal rules, each prostitution charge carries up to 10 years. But higher courts and experts expect a sentence closer to 2 to 5 years. Some also point out that he has already served more than a year in jail. That time will also be counted while determining his final sentence.

Why this matters now?

The reports by All Hip Hop states that Diddy’s enrollment in the STOP Program and the drug treatment course is a big step. It shows he is working on himself in a serious way. Sources say he has kept up with both programs since he was first arrested.

He will stay at the detention center in Brooklyn, possibly for months. His sentencing on October 3 will decide how long he stays behind bars. Until that time, these programs and therapy sessions are all part of his life there. Beyond the criminal case, Diddy still faces civil lawsuits from others who say he did them harm. He has denied any wrongdoing in all cases.

What happens next?

All eyes are now on early October. His time in the STOP Program and the drug therapy could play a big role in the judge’s decision. But the jury’s verdict from July and the evidence presented will also be key.

For now, Diddy remains in prison. He is following the rules and taking part in programs meant to show change. He is scheduled to appear in court again on October 3. Until then, supporters, critics, and legal watchers will be watching closely.
