President Donald Trump will award Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom after the activist was assassinated at Utah Valley University. While delivering the 9/11 remembrance speech at the Pentagon, the president decided to award the conservative activist:
“Charlie was a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty, and an inspiration to millions and millions of people. We miss him greatly, yet I have no doubt that Charlie’s voice and the courage he put into the hearts of countless people, especially young people, will live on.”
The Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian honor in the United States. It is granted to people with exceptional contributions to world peace, national security, or American cultural endeavours. Earlier, Trump granted this honor to singer Elvis Presley, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, golf legend Tiger Woods, and conservative radio pioneer Rush Limbaugh.
About Charlie Kirk's Assassination

Charlie Kirk, the political influencer, was shot during a live event at Utah Valley University around noon, about 20 minutes into a presentation that Charlie was giving to a huge crowd of college students.
Kirk was making his first stop on Turning Point’s “American Comeback Tour" at the university and was seated at his “prove me wrong table." According to campus police, he was shot around 12:10 p.m. and was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Graphic videos of the shooting were found circulating on social media, and politicians from both sides shared prayers for Kirk online. About 90 minutes after Charlie Kirk was shot, Trump confirmed his passing on Truth Social:
"The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
The shooter, who shot Kirk in the neck from 200 yards away, is still at large.
