On November 30, American billionaire Elon Musk appeared on the podcast of an Indian entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath. During their almost two-hour long podcast, the two billionaires touched upon several topics including Starlink, X (formerly Twitter), Collective consciousness, family, and more.
As a significant figure in the world of AI (Artificial Intelligence), Elon Musk also talked about how to regulate it. He shared three important things that should be achieved to have great future with AI.
When asked about how the AI can be regulated, Elon said:
“Well, there's some danger when you create a powerful technology. That powerful technology can be potentially destructive. So there's obviously many AI dystopian, you know, novels and books, movies. So it's not that we're guaranteed to have a positive future with Al.”
As first thing, Elon Musk said that people shouldn’t allow AI to believe in falsehoods or lies.
“In my opinion, it's very important that Al... have pursuing truth as the most important thing. Like, don't force an Al to believe falsehoods.”
According to Musk, if someone will force AI to believe something that isn’t true, it can lead to bad conclusions.
Secondly, he said that appreciation of beauty is important.
“I think that can be very dangerous. And I think some appreciation of beauty is important.”
The third thing is curiosity. Elon Musk said truth, beauty, and curiosity are three important things for AI.
“Truth and beauty and curiosity. I mean, I think those are the three most important things for Al.”
While elaborating on curiosity, the Tesla mogul said that AI should be allowed to learn more about the nature of reality as this will help it to support humanity.
Elon Musk also shared his thoughts on future of content generation
Elsewhere in the podcast, Elon was asked about his take on future of content generation, which is currently overwhelmed with movies and podcasts. Musk said that in near future content creation will be mostly AI-generated.
He said that real-time movies and video games will be soon taking over.
“I think it's gonna be overwhelmingly Al-generated…[…]… Like, yeah, real-time. Real-time movies and video games. Real-time video generation, I think, is where things are headed.” Elon said.
He even dubbed live events as scarce commodity in the world where digital media is ubiquitous.
