Donald Trump recently reacted to Jimmy Kimmel's comments about the ongoing proceedings regarding the release of the Epstein Files.
According to reports, the President took to the social media app Truth Social on Thursday, November 20, where he made comments about taking Jimmy Kimmel off the air, calling him a "bum" and someone who has "no talent." Trump wrote:
"Why does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air? Why do the TV Syndicates put up with it? Also, totally biased coverage. Get the bum off the air!!!"
According to Variety, these comments come just a day after Jimmy Kimmel's jab at the President, who had previously shut down questions from a reporter regarding the Epstein Files.
In his Tuesday appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! As shown, the host suggested that the President was allegedly unhappy at the moment because the Senate voted to release the entirety of the Epstein Files. The President and Jeffrey Epstein previously knew each other, but Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing in the scandal relating to Epstein. Kimmel said:
“Trump is not a happy little meal right now. Every time he gets asked about Jeffrey Epstein, he loses his mind.”
More about Jimmy Kimmel's comments about Donald Trump, as the President reacts to his statement by demanding to take his show off the air
In his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the comedian, who is known to call out Trump on many previous occasions, spoke about the manner in which Trump referred to the reporter, a woman, as "Quiet, piggy" when she questioned him about the possibility of the release of the Epstein Files. According to Variety, the viral clip, taken while Bloomberg White House Correspondent Catherine Lucey was asking the President about his views on the Epstein Files, has garnered immense criticism from all quarters.
According to CNN, Jimmy Kimmel, whose show was suspended by parent company Disney back in September following his comments about Charlie Kirk's death, returned to host just a week later. The first episode following his return racked up 6.3 million views, three times its regular viewership. In his opening monologue on Tuesday, November 18, Kimmel said:
"He called her piggy. He said ‘Quiet, piggy’ to a reporter and it barely made the news… If a man spoke like that to a female coworker in a workplace harassment training video, you’d go, ‘Ah, that’s over the top. Nobody would do that.’ If the pilot on Air Force One behaved like the president, he wouldn’t be allowed to fly the plane.”
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, both Houses of the Senate voted to release the Epstein Files, which must now be released within the next thirty days. It now awaits being signed by the President. According to The Guardian, Jimmy Kimmel also called out the passage of the bill during his monologue and said:
"The goal was to have the bill pass by such a large margin that Trump can’t put his little orange thumb on the scale and give it the old Cheeto veto. But make no mistake: this isn’t over. He’s not giving up. If anyone thinks he’s going to release all of the Epstein files, I’ve got a beautiful East Wing of the White House to sell you. Trump cronies [might try to] protect ongoing investigations, protect innocent people or for reasons of national security. But they would never do anything like that, would they? They’re sworn to protect the constitution of the United States! Something is fishy."
According to The Guardian, the President is now set to meet New York Mayoral-Elect Zohran Mamdani in person later this week. The two have been highly critical of each other in the past few months in the lead-up to the New York Mayoral Election.
