Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay shared an Instagram post on August 30, writing that he had to undergo a medical procedure to remove carcinogenic cells, which he termed as Basal Cell Carcinoma. In the post, he shared photos of his left profile. The second photo showed a stitch below his ears. He wrote in the caption:

β€œGrateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma thank you ! Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend I promise you it’s not a face lift! I’d need a refund.”

This isn’t the first time Gordon Ramsay has had to undergo a health issue. In 2021, he suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and also had knee surgery. In an exclusive statement to The Sun that year, he said:

β€œF*ck me. I’ve just come off two weeks on crutches, as I had meniscus surgery. I did it running up the hill in Richmond Park, bolting up it. It was f*cking painful.”

Gordon Ramsay revealed that when he got the X-ray results, the doctors told him that he had arthritis. He shared that he was advised to slow down for a bit.

His mother, however, told him not to be silly and carry on. He explained that he worked a lot and used training as a way to relax. During the COVID-19 lockdown, he didn’t want to sit around, gain weight, or get upset. So, he kept himself active.

More about Gordon Ramsay’s past health issues and his idea of fitness

In 2024, Gordon Ramsay survived a major cycling accident, which left bruises on his body. Sharing a video message on TikTok, he said that he loved cycling, but a recent accident left him traumatised. Nevertheless, he said he was happy to be alive. According to Hello!, speaking about his medical care, he said:

β€œFrom those incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, nurses in the hospital who looked after me this week, they were amazing but honestly, you've got to wear a helmet. I don't care how short the journey is, I don't care about the fact that these helmets cost money, they're crucial. Even with the kids - any short journey - they've got to wear a helmet.”

Gordon Ramsay said he managed to work his way through the pain. He mentioned that the weekend was important because it was Father’s Day and wished everyone a happy one. He also reminded people to always wear a helmet, saying that if he hadn’t worn his, he might not have survived.

In an interview with Men’s Health UK in 2024, Ramsay shared his idea about fitness, saying:

β€œFitness is the foundation. Everything has to revolve around how I feel and how good it is to train and also it's the release, I think, for me because you're not bothered, no one's following you, you're on your own up a mountain on a bike, trail, run, swim and it's just the most peaceful time in my life.”

Gordon Ramsay said he likes to train because it’s one of the most beautiful places one could be in. Over time, he said he became disciplined and managed to take time out for physical activities.
