Conservative commentator Candace Owens expressed major regrets about her previous support for President Donald Trump, saying in a new interview that she is “embarrassed” about supporting him with her platform.

Discussing Piers Morgan Uncensored, Owens condemned Trump's foreign policy decisions, accusing him of embroiling the US in a deadly conflict between Israel and Iran.

"He’s been a chronic disappointment. And I feel embarrassed that I told people to go vote for him because this wasn’t going to happen, and it is happening," She told Piers Morgan.

Candace Owens, who previously was one of Trump’s prominent supporters leading up to and during the president’s initial bid for the White House and his first term in office, has decided to put distance between herself and Trump, especially since the US military in the Middle East came under fire.

According to her, the attacks by American B-2 bombers on three Iranian nuclear facilities last weekend are part of a larger campaign in support of Israel’s military initiative.

"This was not Trump’s decision; it was Bibi Netanyahu’s decision... And that is the reason that he did it. We’re very aware that Israel is dictating our foreign policy, and we’d now like that to stop." She added.

A look into Candace Owens’ support for Trump administration in the past

Candace Owens’ remarks reflect an emerging split within the conservative movement over America’s role in foreign conflicts. Owens criticized the reasoning for the strikes, saying that there was “no imminent threat” to the United States.

According to The Hill, her position mirrors that of others who have questioned the attacks, including Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who has questioned the necessity and timing of the strikes.

Owens’ recent stance is a clear departure from the public persona she previously put forth. She defended Donald Trump just last year in a controversial debate in which he questioned Vice President Kamala Harris’ racial identity (Newsweek).

During a speech at the National Association of Black Journalists, Trump spurred further controversy by discussing Harris's Indian and Jamaican background. At that time, he was criticized from many corners. But Owens laughed off the statements on her YouTube livestream, deeming them “objectively funny.

"I hate how leftism has turned Black people into something that we're not. We know that's funny... "That's objectively funny and it's the same question that we're all asking ourselves, which is like, who is this girl mimicking?" She said at that time.

Candace Owens’ recent statements indicate a brief split between her and the Trump administration. It's also safe to say that her remarks have drawn quite a lot of attention, and now people seem to be more interested in her opinions related to Trump's administration.
