How much did Sheikha Mahra's first wedding cost? Details of the ceremony explored as Dubai princess gets engaged to French Montana

Emirati princess Sheikha Mahra is engaged to Moroccan-American rapper French Montana.

As per reports, Mahra's ex-husband is businessman Sheikh Mana. The princess announced their separation earlier this year through a social media post, in which she wrote:

“Dear Husband, as you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I Divorce You. Take Care. Your ex-wife.”

Mahra and Sheikh Mana got married on May 27, 2023. As seen in photos shared by Grazia Magazine, their wedding reception had a seven-layer cake and white flowers for decoration. As per a report by NewsBytes, the wedding cost around $50 million. Laylati Weddings & Events were in charge of planning.

The wedding reception took place at Al Zabeel Hall in Dubai. The white gown that Sheikha Mahra wore at her wedding was designed by Ezra Couture. In a statement posted on Arabia Weddings, fashion designer Ezra Santos said:

“She wanted a Grecian-themed dress, something very simple yet regal, but also something that was a nod to her culture. The catch was she wanted it in nine days. But Sheikha Mahra was so humble and so down-to-earth and accommodating that she made the whole process easier.”

He explained that they had to pause all other work to focus on making the dress. Out of the nine days they had, two were spent on sketches and the first fitting, which left only seven days to finish creating it.

Sheikha Mahra shares her idea of identity, motherhood, and marriage

In 2024, Sheikha Mahra was interviewed by Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, during which she was asked about her Emirati cultural identity. She said her pride was rooted in the ideals of love, familial ties, and nationalism. She said it had more to do with the time she was in the UAE.

When asked about the idea of legacy while embracing motherhood, Mahra said:

“My viewpoint has unquestionably changed, as caring for my child has become my utmost priority. It is essential to raise our children to reach their full potential, and in order to do so, I must hold myself to a high standard and serve as a model of exemplary motherhood.”

She went on:

“Additionally, it is important for women to have individual accomplishments outside of motherhood, as they possess a natural ability to excel in various areas.”

Sheikha Mahra said she looked forward to watching her future children grow and wanted to give them a caring and loving home. She also said her mother had taught her the importance of being kind and leading with empathy instead of judgment, and she hoped to pass that lesson on to her own children. Speaking of her parents, she said:

“I am fortunate to have been raised by both of my parents, each imparting their own unique cultural background and values. I am appreciative of the diversity in my upbringing and recognise the importance of unity and openness in shaping my perspective on life.”

Sheikha Mahra also said she had not been married for long, so she could not speak about long-term marriage. However, she believed that being with someone who was ambitious and encouraged her dreams was important for a happy marriage.

She also said that while challenges come with having different views, those challenges were normal and could bring a couple closer.
