Elon Musk hit back at Senator Bernie Sanders after the latter took a shot at billionaires' push to AI development. Sanders recently appeared on CNN and raised concerns about joblessness due to AI advancement. On Sunday, political advisor Saikat Chakrabarti shared a post in which he advocated for a wealth tax. He wrote that the world is on the "verge of creating trillionaires" when many are "struggling to afford the essentials." For context, Elon Musk is reportedly set to become the world's first trillionaire in the next few years. On Tuesday, Solana Labs co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko reacted to Chakrabarti's post and explained Musk's wealth. He said that Musk's shares aren't his wealth."If the number of Tesla shares doubled the world isn’t any richer. If the number of Tesla cars doubled, it’s measurably richer," Yakovenko posted.Elon Musk reshared Yakovenko's post and agreed with him. Musk discussed his wealth and also took a dig at Bernie Sanders. He posted:"My Tesla and SpaceX shares, which are almost all my “wealth”, only go up in value as a function of how much useful product those companies produce and service. This means my “wealth” can only increase due to producing more products and services for the public. Moreover, anyone else who is a shareholder in Tesla and SpaceX, which includes employees, participates in the upside of stock appreciation."Musk continued:That is because I am a maker, not a taker like the Bernie Sanders type politicians of the world. They take and they’re on the take, because they cannot or will not make."What did Bernie Sanders say about Elon Musk and other billionaires?During his recent interview, Bernie Sanders demanded a moratorium on building data centers. The host argued that most tech CEOs would see this proposed move as "stifling entrepreneurship and innovation.""The function of technology must be to improve life for human beings, not like Musk, not make Musk and Zuckerberg and Bezos even richer than they are. So let us work together to say okay if technology is going to radically improve worker productivity," Sanders responded. The senator also demanded a study on the impact of AI on the mental health of people. The host further asked him why Congress didn't do anything on AI regulation. The politician accused billionaires of blocking the effort."Look, Elon Musk himself contributed over $270 million to elect Donald Trump the president. These guys have now come up with their super PACs to try to make sure that there is no regulation," he added.Earlier on Monday, Bernie Sanders shared a post on X and quoted Elon Musk's claim that "working will be optional" in the future. He raised the question of how people would feed their families? Also read: "Unlocked a new difficulty level of wealth": Internet buzzes as Elon Musk's net worth crosses $700 billion mark
