On June 27, 2025, the trial of Diddy progressed to the closing arguments phase. Marc Agnifilo, the principal attorney representing Diddy, commenced his closing arguments in court today. The defense attorney moved to dismiss multiple charges and allegations levied against his client. Marc contested the testimonies of both Cassie and another ex-partner reported as Jane.
Sean Combs also entered a plea of not guilty to the allegations, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and more charges. Marc Agnifilo gave contradictory arguments for claims made by Casandra and Jane. Below are listed seven statements made by Sean Comb’s lawyer during closing argument.
7 highly contentious assertions presented by Diddy’s attorney during the closing argument
1) Diddy's lawyer accuses Cassie of affair with two men at the same time
The defense attorney Marc Agnifilo became particularly passionate when discussing Casandra Ventura's brief association with the rapper Kid Cudi. Marc contended that she was audaciously deceiving both men, exhibiting hardly any apprehension towards Sean Combs.
“Someone’s got a burner phone! She is leaning into the deception!”
2) Defense highlights the reason of tensions in Cassie and Comb’s relationship
Marc Agnifilo informed the jury that the primary sources of tension in Sean Combs's relationship with Cassie, as evidenced by numerous texts, were jealousy and Sean Comb’s involvement with other women, rather than sexual encounters with male escorts. In his strong closing argument, Marc stated that Cassie is a woman who likes sex.
“No one’s forcing her to do this...She’s a woman who actually likes sex — good for her,” Agnifilo stated.
3) Defense says Cassie is not a victim and how she made $30 million
Marc wanted to show that Casandra Ventura was a strong lady, not a victim. The defense stated that the government has claimed that Ms. Ventura's connection with Sean Combs was "one-sided and oppressive," when in truth, she is the "winner" in all of this.
“She is sitting somewhere in the world with $30 million dollars,”Agnifilo said.
The defense referred to Casandra's $20 million settlement with the rapper, as well as a $10 million deal with the owner of the hotel where the rapper allegedly assaulted her in 2016.
4) Defense refutes claim of 2018 rape
Defense attorney Marc told the jury that Sean Combs did not rape Cassie Ventura as Ventura alleged on the stand. Marc denied the rape allegations of Cassie during closing argument.
“I can’t let you think there was a rape,” Marc told the jury.
Agnifilo alleged that after Cassie's husband learned about her relationship with Combs, she framed the rapper with rape charges. The defense made a bold statement disputing the rape charges, contending that Cassie's voluntary intimacy cannot be classified as rape.
“If there was really a rape, she would not have gone back and had consensual sex, so no rape,” Agnifilo said.
5) Marc claims that Jane and Comb's sex clips show genunie intimacy
The defense attorney stated that Diddy may have threatened to disseminate footage of "Freak Offs," the drug-induced sexual displays he arranged, but he would never have followed through with such actions.
Agnifilo asserted that the videos showed an uncommon kind of intimacy. He said the videos of the “Freak Offs” actually showed a “genuine intimacy.” The defense lawyer claimed that the Freak Off videos didn’t portray aggression.
Agnifilo referred to the testimony of two men who testified that they participated in Freak Offs with Ventura, saying “they both thought Cassie was into that.”
“I don’t think by any stretch of the imagination this is the only man in America making homemade porn,” Agnifilo said.
6) Marc emphasized how Combs looked after Jane’s child
Marc Agnifilo said Sean Combs allegedly took care of Jane and her child because the child’s father “dropped the ball.”
The defense argued that Combs' payment of rent for Jane's Los Angeles home was a "gesture of niceness" and not a cause for sex trafficking.
Earlier in her testimony Jane revealed that she received $5,000/month from her kid’s father and rest of child’s needs were fulfilled by Diddy. The defense stressed the genuineness of the the rapper by providing child support to Jane.
“He’s picking up the ball for some who seems to have dropped the ball for his own kid,” Marc stated.
7) Defense called out Jane
The defense, in a separate argument, recounted a portion of Jane's testimony in which she stated that she "unfortunately" consented to a hotel stay with Combs, which she described as a "sobriety party."
In her prior testimony, Jane expressed her resentment towards Diddy for this matter. Marc commented on Jane's evidence, suggesting that while she may now regret her actions, it does not imply that she participated in those parties unwillingly at the time.
“She’s agreeing to it, he sees her agreeing to it. She regrets it, she resents him for it — that’s all coming later,” Marc stated.
These were some of the statements by Diddy's defense made during the closing arguments. Marc Agnifilo addressed major accusations made against the rapper by Cassie and Jane as the trial is on the verge of ending.
