On June 27, 2025, the proceedings of Diddy’s trial continued with closing arguments. During the closing arguments, Marc Agnifilo, Diddy’s lawyer, took a dig at Casandra Ventura, aka Cassie, while brushing off the serious charges against their client amid the ongoing trial. The rapper pleaded not guilty to the accusations against him, notably s*x trafficking, racketeering, and more.
Marc Agnifilo, the lead lawyer of Diddy, started his closing arguments by saying he wouldn’t be using charts, slideshows, or extensive digital documentation during his closing.
Marc Agnifilo seemed to be bypassing the facts, and he instead began playing with the jury's emotions during the closing argument. The rapper’s lawyer targeted Cassie Ventura and claimed that she did everything for money and that Sean Combs’ actions and activities were consensual. Marc even recalled the 2023 lawsuit, which Cassie filed against the rapper.
“She is sitting somewhere in the world with $30 million dollars,” Marc made sarcastic remark against Cassie.
Diddy’s lawyer Marc pointed out that Cassie filed lawsuit for money
During his closing argument, Marc Agnifilo attempted to keep the jury interested and involved by making personal remarks while ignoring or downplaying the seriousness of the accusations.
Marc tried to portray Casandra Ventura as not a victim, but rather a strong, independent woman. Agnifilo stated that the government was trying to portray Cassie’s connection with Combs as a "one-sided, oppressive thing." He went on to say that Cassie was rather the "winner" of this whole mess.
Mr. Agnifilo brought this up in regard to Cassie Ventura's $20 million settlement from Sean Combs in 2023. In addition to this, Cassie reached a $10 million contract with the owner of the hotel where she allegedly suffered s*xual assault by Combs in 2016.
Marc Agnifilo pointed out how none of Sean Combs’ alleged victims reached out to law enforcement and ended up settling their lawsuits with settlements.
“This isn’t about a crime, this is about money.” Marc asserted.
In another statement, Marc defended his client, saying that Cassie sued Combs for 30 million, as he had that money.
“Cassie Ventura sued Sean Combs for $30 million because Sean Combs has $30 million,” Marc added.
Casandra Ventura filed a $30 million lawsuit against Sean "Diddy" Combs in November 2023, accusing him of alleged r*pe, s*x trafficking, and physical abuse during their decade-long affair, which began when she was 19 in 2005.
The lawsuit said Combs pushed her to frequent physical and s*xual abuse, notably forcing her to take part in drug-fueled s*xual sessions with male prostitutes which were videotaped, besides her alleged rape in 2018.
Ventura also claimed Combs had complete control over her life and career, causing major trauma. According to Ventura's evidence at Combs' federal s*x trafficking trial in 2025, the complaint was resolved the next day for $20 million.
