Journalist John Dickerson, who has been with CBS since the 2009 recently announced his departure from the network. According to The Guardian, although the reason for Dickerson's exit remains unclear, it comes shortly after the network's takeover by billionaire David Ellison, who is now serving as the current CEO.Ellison, the son of fervent Trump supporter Larry Ellison, announced earlier this month that Bari Weiss had been appointed as the Editor-in-Chief. The news sparked widespread criticism from many CBS employees, several of whom expressed concern over journalistic independence. He began his career as a correspondent at TIME Magazine, where he worked for twelve years. After this Dickerson joined Slate Magazine, acting as their chief Political Correspondant from 2005 till 2015.John Dickerson, who has received the Ford Prize for Distinguished Reporting, joined CBS in 2009 as a reporter for Face of the Nation. He later went on to become the Chief Political Director for the studio. The Emmy-winning journalist has covered several presidential campaigns, including two during his time at CBS.According to People Magazine, Tom Cibrowski, the current President of CBS News, addressed Dickerson's departure by releasing his own statement. He said:"After 16 years at CBS News and contributing to every program here, John Dickerson has decided to step away at the end of the year. John epitomizes the very best of journalism. He will co-anchor the CBS Evening News until the holidays, when he will say farewell.
