Commentator and author Candace Owens is seemingly heartbroken over Charlie Kirk’s death. Remembering him in one of her recent videos posted on her YouTube channel on September 11, she said he was an amazing person. As her voice broke down, she went on:

“You know, he was like we were really close and he was he was my best friend and my brother and I will never unsee the footage of what I saw, the violence of it. I pray for the people who took any pleasure in that. I would never, there's not a single person in the world that I would wish that on. And least of all someone with a heart like Charlie's.”

Meanwhile, social media users reacted to a clip of the YouTube video posted on Instagram by Hollywood Unlocked. One Instagram user (@juicybutt323) wrote:

A few social media users mocked Candace Owens for her thoughts about Charlie Kirk.

“Didn't he fire her and attempted to black ball her career a few years ago,” a social media user (@there_goes_janay) claimed.
“Didn’t he speak negatively about black women? And that’s her best friend?” an online commentator (@janeem_fra) asked.
“All he did was talk bad about you… And you just light up talking about him? What am I not getting?” an online user (@tickettiger) wrote.

Others defended Candace Owens from the negative comments, noting that she and Charlie Kirk shared a close bond.

“Shout out to Candace for being a human and lots of prayers for the heartless angry folk on here trying to be funny yet behave so tragically,” a netizen (@alwayscomecorrect) commented.
“I'm praying for Candace. She lost her homie and that's hard. Have empathy for her people. Shes a human being regardless of her opinions. Shes mourning. May the Lord cover her!!!” another social media user (@e_motorcity_peach) wrote.
“Her tribute she posted was really sad. They were really close,” a third user (@danijosie18) mentioned.

Candace Owens takes a walk down memory lane, reminiscing about the days she first met Charlie Kirk

Candace Owens said that she met Charlie Kirk in 2017 at a time when his non-profit organisation, Turning Point USA, was blooming. At the time, she said nobody knew who they were. Remembering him, she said he used to wear baggy suits, which looked like hand-me-downs from three generations. She said:

“He didn't care about his appearance. He was laser focused on what he knew Turning Point could become. Not could become, but would become. He hired me on the spot. We were at this conference in Florida. And he and I used to always say, we've never said the rest was history. You know, the rest is history. We say the rest is future.”

Candace Owens said that Charlie Kirk had a big vision and believed he could make it real. His dream was to turn Turning Point USA into the largest conservative student group, not only in the U.S. but worldwide. She explained that their shared motto was to always outwork their opponents.

Candace Owens added that Charlie Kirk focused on politics while she brought in culture, and both of them learned from each other to balance things out.
