Streamer IShowSpeed, aka Darren Jason Watkins Jr., mistook Elon Musk’s SpaceX rocket for a UFO during a recent livestream. As seen in a clip of the stream shared by the X account FearBuck, Darren was seen on an amusement park ride when he said:
“Wait, what the f*ck is that in the air? Is that a UFO? What the f*ck is that? What is that? Is that an alien? It’s a f*cking UFO. What the f*ck is that. I mean, what is that, actually? What the h*ll is that?”
Someone then told him that it was a rocket that had connections with Elon Musk. At this point, IShowSpeed said:
“We just got a rocket. Look, get the like beginning of it. It’s a whole rocket. Holy sh*t. We just got a rocket. We just got a rocket live on stream. Wait, that’s crazy.”
According to a report by Anadolu Agency, Elon Musk’s SpaceX planned to launch 28 satellites from California. Meanwhile, in an interview with Jon Youshaei in December 2024, IShowSpeed was asked about his livestreaming plans, acknowledging that he had raised the bar high with previous streams with MrBeast. He replied:
“Man, I want to take livestreaming more higher one day I want to do a stream in space once I get in contact with Elon Musk I have so much ideas you know that could really go crazy I have to get content with Elon Musk cause he's the one who you know because I want to do like streams where I'm like on the plane.”
IShowSpeed discusses how streaming helped people connect with their fans
Speaking to Jon Youshaei, IShowSpeed said he wanted to stream in every country, but explained that it usually depended on how he felt at the moment. For example, he might suddenly decide to go to Poland or travel around South America.
When asked if Kick offered him $100 million, he said they had talks in 2023, but nothing came of it. Jon asked why there was so much money in streaming, to which IShowSpeed replied:
“I mean because like it's 2024 now streaming is the sh*t. This is a new era and streaming is on top of that you know and I'm glad to be part of that. I'm glad to be part of like streaming really taking over, like streaming is it's taking over a lot of companies and businesses. So, to be a part of that right now and be one of the tops to be the top you know it feels amazing.”
IShowSpeed explained that as a live streamer, he and others talked to their fans every day, shared updates about their lives, and built a close connection with them. He compared it to singers or actors, who usually only met fans at concerts or events, saying live streaming was different because it allowed constant interaction.
He added that in 2024, live streaming had become the most popular trend, and that’s what everyone was doing.
