David Roach, the former frontman of the American heavy metal band Junkyard, passed away in his home on August 1, 2025. The news of his death was announced by his former band on their Facebook page. A month before his passing, David Roach shared the news of his diagnosis on Instagram. Roach was suffering from an aggressive form of cancer.

Later on, it was revealed that it was an aggressive form of squamous cell carcinoma that had spread throughout his neck, head, and throat.

Junkyard posted the announcement on Facebook, as well as Instagram. It reads:

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Roach. After a courageous battle with cancer, David passed away peacefully last night at home, in the loving arms of his wife. He was a gifted artist, performer, songwriter, and singer—but above all, a devoted father, husband, and brother. Our thoughts are with the entire Roach family and everyone who loved him."

How has Junkyard supported David Roach during his battle with cancer?

As the former frontman of Junkyard, the heavy metal band has been proactive in providing David Roach with the support he and his recently married wife need. A GoFundMe link was set up so that fans can help Roach and his wife by donating.

The GoFundMe message states:

"Hi Everyone, I want to take a moment to talk about our amazing friend, David Roach. As many of you know, David who is a friend to all is in the fight of his life battling aggressive squamous cell carcinoma affecting his head, neck, and throat. Currently David requires around the clock care and supervision."

It further explained David and Jennifer's situation:

"David’s fiancé Jennifer has had to step away from traditional employment to become his full time care giver. While they have applied for disability and full time caregivers assistance it is an extremely long waiting period to go through the processing and receive approval. This has put them in a dire situation."

They concluded with:

"Right now, though, David is in a serious situation. The financial strain from medical expenses and daily living costs is piling up, and he’s struggling to keep a roof over his head without any income while fighting this cancer. Let’s come together to support David during this critical time... Your support means the world to David, and it will truly help him through this difficult period. Thank you so much for showing him the love and kindness he deserves!"

David passed after a month of sharing the news of his diagnosis. Tributes have poured in from fans and his bandmates, showing how deeply he was cherished as a performer and a friend.
