Former South Korean Navy SEAL and YouTuber Dalgeun Yu had been fined for assaulting controversial YouTuber Johnny Somali. The incident reportedly took place in October 2024, following Somali's antics and disrespectful behaviour in South Korea. Yu reportedly took matters into his hands and tracked down Somali, before punching him in his head, per Dexerto. After the incident, Yu was penalized with a 10 million won fine (approximately $7000).

Following the penalty, Yu requested his followers to assist him in paying the fine. Following Dexerto's post on their X channel about the fine, YouTuber and former police officer, Cody Garrett, popularly known as Donut Operator, paid the remaining fine ($4000).

Following the donation, Dalgeun thanked Donut in a YouTube community post and revealed he is also facing additional charges. He wrote,

“Thank you very much, Donut Operato. I respect him and thank you very much for helping me. …I have about four more punishments for intimidation and stalking. They also aim to extort money from me by filing additional civil suits, and now Somali and Hank have no money. "

"I just did what I had to do as a Korean citizen But thank you so much for calling me a hero in the U.S. and in each country I have a lot of dm that you want to donate."

Yu expressed gratitude for being supported towards Donut Operator and his fans for covering his fine. X user @thelegalmindset has also been following the case and gives updates about Somali's case. He expressed gratitude towards Donut Operator and noted:

"Big thanks to @DonutOperator for covering Dalguen‘s fines imposed for delivering a punch to Ramsey Khalid Ismael (Johnny Somali) for his insult of the Statue of Peace , the Korean people and attacks on women and children."

Johnny Somali is currently facing multiple charges and is expected to face legal trouble. While the YouTuber has been apprehended, it is unclear if the charges against him have been decided.

While former South Korean Navy SEAL Dalgeun Yu's fine has been covered by YouTuber Donut Operator and his followers, he continues to face other charges. It isn't clear if Johnny Somali has been convicted, though his mobility has reportedly been restricted. While Korean citizens demand justice, the fate of Johnny Somali in South Korea remains unclear.
