Conservative comic and Donald Trump supporter Terrence K. Williams is known for his controversial remarks and stances that often garner polarizing reactions on the internet.
In a recent X post, the comedian-podcaster called out Black people for apparently using slavery to play the victim. Williams asserted that “slavery’s been over for 150 years” and asked those using it as an excuse to “stop milking it.”
Terrence further proclaimed:
“It’s [slavery] not holding you back, that’s a pathetic excuse for laziness. I was a Foster Kid and received ZERO handouts, yet I built my food company CousinTs.com and published two books.”
Terrence K. Williams stated that “people of all colors” struggle and have a tough life. He added how those playing victim “live in the land of opportunities [USA],” and wrote:
“Let go of the Victimhood mentality, you can do whatever you put your mind to! I’m living proof!! I had rough childhood but no one ever said life would be easy!”
The comedian suggested his two books, From the Foster House to the White House and The Little Kid Who Can, to motivate people to chase their dreams and quit the victim mentality. Along with his X post, the Trump supporter also attached a video sharing his views.
Terrence K. Williams talked about living in a children’s shelter and turning his life around by letting go of his victimhood mentality
In a recent video he shared on X, the comedian-commentator criticized Black people for playing the victim and using slavery as an excuse. Williams shared his side of the story as a person of color who was raised in the foster care system. The standup comic said:
“My mother was addicted to crack cocaine, my father was addicted to crack cocaine. My mother had nine children that she could not take care of, okay? And we lived in the most terrible, terrible conditions.”
Terrence K. Williams continued:
“[I got] Sent off to the children's shelter, bounced from home to home, been through hell as a child, been through things that you can't even imagine. And I'm telling you, as a person who went through the system, that you have let this victimhood mentality go.”
The conservative comedian claimed that no one needs DEI or reparations in 2025, as no person living today was an enslaver or was enslaved. He added:
“I'm not telling you to forget about the past. I'm telling you not to live in the past that you never lived in. You can't let something that happened centuries ago hold you back.”
Terrence K. Williams claimed that those who still feel they are the victims are the ones who are holding themselves back. He further highlighted that people of all colors have lived tough lives and mentioned encountering kids of almost all races in the children’s shelter. Williams also talked about being surrounded by drugs while growing up and claimed that he could have chosen that path, but didn’t.
The comedian credited “chasing his dreams” and letting go of the “victimhood mentality” as the reasons that helped him turn around his life and set up his business. Terrence K. Williams also encouraged others to work harder to achieve their goals and stop using their tough lives as excuses.
