Madonna is proving once again that she's a proud mom, and not just the Queen of Pop, as she celebrated her daughter Lourdes' 29th birthday with a heartfelt social media tribute.
On Tuesday, Oct. 14, the "La Isla Bonita" hitmaker took to her Instagram to pen a heartwarming birthday greeting for Lourdes, her daughter with former partner Carlos Leon. Madonna shared a carousel of snapshots of Lourdes through the years — from her childhood photos to her singing gigs and what appear to be editorial shots.
The songstress wrote in her caption:
"Happy Birthday Lolita! Light of my Life. Never forget who you are Little Star. Shining brighter than all the stars in the sky. Never forget how to dream Butterfly. Never forget where you come from. From Love."
It's not news to many that Madonna adores her children. Back in May, the "Crazy for You" songstress shared her affection for her kids by posting a recap of Mother's Day celebration. The pop icon wrote on Instagram:
"I spent Mother’s Day weekend with 5 of my 6 children. Sunshine laughter, horseback riding. soccer, and the sound of music! The best gift they gave me was the gift of not arguing and being loving to one another. When you raise children to be unique and opinionated, you also create your own debate team !!!"
She continued:
"Motherhood could never be described with a few words. Nothing can prepare you. Happy Mother’s Day !! To All the Women out there doing the Heavy Lifting !"
"I'm proud of their work": Madonna says she’s “the Happiest” watching her kids chase their passions
Despite this, Madonna confessed that being a mother has its challenges.
In her 2023 interview with Vanity Fair, the "Holiday" star shared that motherhood "has been the most difficult, the hardest battle." She reflected:
"Today I am still struggling to understand how to be a mother and do my job. Because, whoever you are, having children and raising them is a work of art. And no one gives you a manual. You have to learn from mistakes."
She added:
"It is a profession that requires a lot of time. And it is exhausting because there is never rest."
Still, the pop legend revealed that witnessing her six children discovering their own creativity is what makes her proud as a mom.
"I have never encouraged my daughter Lola to make music or my son Rocco to paint. But I've always exposed them to art, to music. I'm happy with how they are today. And I'm proud of their work."
Madonna added that she feels "the happiest" when she spends time with them.
"And to see them happy, to witness their growth, to watch them evolve and then to find the things they love. Most of my happiness comes from my children. And much more from the inspiration that some artists give me."
