Following the Astronomer CEO, Andy Byron’s viral video from the Coldplay concert, two ESPN hosts have attempted to recreate the scene. On July 18, SportsCenter hosts Randy Scott and Gary Striewski recreated the exact scene, triggering mixed reactions from social media users.
One X user reshared the hosts’ video and wrote:
“I love it when cheaters get humiliated like this.”
Netizens appeared surprised by the stunt, while others joked that the episode could be a Halloween theme.
“I can't believe they did this,” a social media user noted.
“I wonder how many kids are going as that couple for Halloween this year,” a netizen quipped.
“these boys are FUNNY lmfaoooo,” a platform user commented.
However, a section of social media users seemed upset over ESPN’s stunt, and criticised the hosts.
“Wonder who actually thinks this is funny?” an online commentator mentioned.
“they turned infidelity into sports commentary i fear,” a netizen remarked.
“This ain't the SportsCenter I grew up watching,” another X user opined.
“SportsCenter said, ‘We don’t just cover drama, we act it out now,’” a social media user commented.
On July 16, Byron was spotted embracing another woman at the concert when the kiss cam segment flashed their faces on the screen. They immediately turned away from the camera and attempted to hide their faces.
It is reported that Byron is married with kids, and the woman he was seen with at the Coldplay concert is Kristin Cabot, Astronomer’s Chief People Officer.
What did Astronomer say about Kristin Cabot when she joined the company?
In November 2024, when Kristin Cabot was appointed at Astronomer, the company released a statement on their official website. She was appointed to help strengthen the company’s focus on building a collaborative and inclusive workplace as it continued to grow. The statement also mentioned:
“Seasoned people strategy leader joins during a time of rapid growth at Astronomer to accelerate employee development.”
The statement said that Cabot had a strong history of improving company culture, even when businesses were growing very fast. Before this, she worked at Neo4j as Chief People Officer for almost four years, where the company grew from 225 to 900 employees.
Before Neo4j, she helped another company, ObserveIT, grow its team four times and even won several “Best Places to Work” awards while managing its sale to another company.
Per the statement, her hiring was meant to help Astronomer build strong data teams that could create important analytics, AI, and software by bringing in, keeping, and developing talented workers for their customers. Andy Byron also shared his thoughts about Cabot in the statement, mentioning:
“Kristin’s exceptional leadership and deep expertise in talent management, employee engagement, and scaling people strategies will be critical as we continue our rapid trajectory. She is a proven leader at multiple growth-stage companies and her passion for fostering diverse, collaborative workplaces makes her a perfect fit for Astronomer.”
Meanwhile, Kristin Cabot said she liked to see her job as focusing on people strategy instead of just traditional human resources. She explained that the best results came when a company’s plan for its people matched its overall business goals.
She also mentioned that many companies didn’t realize how important a good leader and team could be for the company’s success.
