Soon after popular Twitch streamer Emiru was attacked at her meet-and-greet at the San Diego TwitchCon, fellow streamer MeesterKeem took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share his thoughts.

He wrote in part,

“This absolutely sickens me to watch happen to Emiru. It’s so easy to fall into the mentality of reacting & moving on, but it’s so important to use our voices to shine more light onto the struggle female creators have to go through on the daily- and particularly at events like this.”

Following the incident, many other popular streamers like Tectone have also reacted. Tectone even said that he "tried to warn" everyone long before.

What Happened to Emiru at TwitchCon

As per a video footage circulating on various social networking channels, a fan unsuspectingly approached the streamer at the podium before grabbing and assaulting her.

While the security quickly intervened, pulling the man away from Emiru, fans have been expressing their discontent with the platform's CEO, Dan Clancy's, reaction to safety concerns last month.

For the unversed, in September, QTCinderella and Valkyrae made a passing remark about not attending TwitchCon. In their Wine About It podcast, the streamers discussed the deteriorating measures of security, especially bringing up the death of the Japanese IRL streamer Airi Sato after her live stabbing.

However, since the assault took place despite the CEO's security assurances, netizens were displeased with the lack of seriousness of the platform's chief executive.

Twitch's alleged response to the incident has further ignited anger. Posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) by @feinmadeit, the statement read in part,

“The individual responsible for allowing the situation to occur has been removed from their position effective immediately...”

To which a user posed a question asked by many,

“Removed from their position? u mean they aren't banned from the venue/event? they're part of staff????”

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time Emiru finds herself embroiled in an unfavourable incident. Earlier this year, she, along with streamer Valkyrae and Cinna, was targeted by a stalker.

It remains unclear whether charges were filed against the perpetrator in connection with the incident. His identity also remains unknown.
