Former frenemies turned headline fodder: President Donald Trump and Elon Musk were caught on camera shaking hands during Charlie Kirk’s memorial, marking a surprise truce just months after their fiery feud lit up social media.
On Sept. 21, at the service for the conservative activist and Turning Point USA, the two men were seated together in a private suite, chatting and even shaking hands.
Mid-conversation, the president seemed to introduce the Tesla CEO to Dana White, CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
The moment marked the first time they had been seen together in public after the Tesla CEO stepped down from the role as a special government employee.
In late May, Musk acrimoniously quit as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He took aim at the White House's flagship policy bill on his way out and argued that it only piled onto the national debt.
Following their falling out, Musk posted an image on his X (formerly Twitter), with the text:
“The Official Jeffrey Epstein Pedophile Arrest Counter."
His caption read:
"What’s the time? Oh look, it’s no-one-has-been-arrested-o’clock again …"
The post had a follow-through, as Must posted on X anew, which criticizes the Trump administration for first vowing to release the "Epstein list" but claiming that no such list exists.
"This is the final straw."
The post follows the Justice Department and the FBI's conclusion that there's no evidence that the convicted s*x offender Epstein kept a list of clients and blackmailed powerful figures, contrary to widespread conspiracy theories.
Meanwhile, Trump has taken a jab at the tech billionaire as well, such as his post on Truth Social in June:
