Here are the key highlights of video expert Frank Piazza’s testimony during the P Diddy trial.

In a new update on the ongoing P Diddy trial, forensic video expert Frank Piazza testifies regarding the technicalities of the Cassie Ventura and Sean Combs' video.
Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura and famously known as the former girlfriend of Sean “Diddy” Combs, is among four key witnesses speaking out in the legal case against the music mogul. As the trial began in May 2025, Diddy faces multiple serious allegations, including abuse, sex trafficking, and other criminal charges.
The video in question refers to the widely circulated CCTV footage from 2016 that showed Cassie being physically assaulted by Sean "Diddy" Combs at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, California. In addition, Ventura revealed that in 2018, after attempting to end their relationship, Combs allegedly followed her to her apartment and sexually assaulted her.
The forensic expert on the case gave his testimony regarding his analysis of the video. Piazza's testimony, called dry, reveals the technical complications of the video and that fact that it was not altered. It also had an impact on the jurors as they had to watch the clip frame by frame and sit through an extended look at Combs’ brutal beating of Cassie.
Piazza described the manner in which he analyzed the footage. He said he slowed it down to real-time because a file conversion had increased the video speed. He made it clear through his step by step analysis that the video contained reliable depictions of what occurred at the hallway. Apart from this video, Piazza also said that he technically enhanced and analyzed around 10 sex videos accquired from Ventura's laptop.
The CNN released the video was questioned by P Diddy and his team when it came out earlier, as he alleged that the surveillance was altered.
According to a joint letter from Diddy’s defense and the U.S. Attorney’s office:
"The defense has confirmed, through a forensic video analysis of the CNN footage that the government provided to this Court and of the footage provided by CNN in response to the defense subpoena, that all CNN video footage was substantially altered in significant respects."
While Cassie's team responded with:
"It is not surprising that Combs would make a disingenuous argument to exclude the disturbing video from being shown to the jury in the upcoming trial. I am confident that the video fairly and accurately represents what happened, will be admitted into evidence, and that Combs will be held accountable for his depravity."
P Diddy's arrest
On September 16, 2024, Sean "P Diddy" Combs was arrested in Manhattan and charged in a criminal case involving multiple allegations of rape, physical assault, intimidation, and drug-fueled “freak off” sex parties. In addition to the criminal charges, he is also facing numerous civil lawsuits. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently undergoing trial. Around 26 witnesses have already testified in this high-profile case.
