Rapper T-Hood, whose real name was Tevin Hood, was shot and killed during a dispute in Snellville, Georgia, on Friday, August 8. He was 33 years of age.
The news was confirmed through a statement released by Gwinnett County Police on X (formerly Twitter). The police stated that the shooting occurred at a home in the 3900 block of Lee Road in unincorporated Snellville. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
The police said the officers were sent to the home around 7 p.m. after a caller reported a dispute and a shooting. Officers found T-Hood at the scene and gave medical help until Gwinnett County Fire Rescue took him to the hospital. He later died from his injuries. His identity was confirmed by his family to local news station WSB, Channel 2 Action News.
One person was detained at the scene and is being interviewed by detectives. The police have not shared a motive for the shooting.
Police investigation and statement
In a statement posted on X, Gwinnett County Police confirmed that the shooting took place at a residence. The statement said,
“The caller reported that a dispute took place at the residence and someone was shot."
Police stated that the victim was taken to the hospital but did not survive. The department added,
“One person was detained at the shooting location and is in the process of being interviewed by detectives. The case is being investigated as a homicide.”
The name of the detained person has not been released. Detectives are still gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses to understand what led to the shooting.
T-Hood’s career and public presence
In Georgia, T-Hood had hits such as War Ready, Girls In the Party, and Perculator among fans. He usually performed locally and was provided feedback by fans through social media.
During the 404 Day, in April, he shared a video of himself performing in Atlanta and with the caption,
“No State Or City In The World Do It Like ATLANTA GEORGIA!
T-Hood talked about the difficulty of being an independent artist in an interview with YouTube channel DGB Media in September 2023. He said,
“As an independent artist, you gotta be the marketing department, you gotta be management damn near, you gotta be the everything."
He also added that music was his way to stay out of trouble.
“It’s my way of staying out of bullsh-t. I’m on my own a–, like, ‘Look Shorty, you gotta keep this rolling'."

The investigation into T-Hood’s death is ongoing, and the police are investigating to establish the circumstances under which the shooting took place. It is yet to be decided whether the individual imprisoned will be charged or not.
