"She told me she was on the call with Justin": Kevin Federline alleges Britney Spears spoke with ex Justin Timberlake hours before their wedding

Kevin Federline, the ex-husband of Britney Spears, has brought out a new piece of information about their relationship. Federline recently told the press in an interview that on the night before he and Spears married in 2004, she made an emotional telephone call to her former boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

“We’re at the Fairmont in Santa Monica in one of the bungalows, and I’m like, ‘What’s wrong?’ I thought she was talking to her mom on the phone or something and maybe she was, like, having doubts. And she told me that she was on the phone with Justin.” Federline told Entertainment Tonight on October 14.

It came at a time, he mentioned, that was utterly unexpected to him a few hours before the ceremony.

“I was like, ‘We don’t have to do this,’” Federline said. “I didn’t care if we got married or not.”

According to him, Spears told him that she just wanted closure and to say her “final piece” to Timberlake before moving on.

Kevin Federline said that he tried to stay calm after learning about the call.

“I was like, ‘Damn, on the night before our wedding, this is what you decide to do?’” he recalled.

He added that he chose to accept her explanation at the time, thinking that she was simply closing a chapter in her life.

The former dancer admitted that he was very much in love with Spears and did not want to let the moment ruin their plans.

“I was super young,” he said. “I was so madly in love at that moment.” When Entertainment Tonight cohost Kevin Frazier called the situation a “hell of a red flag,” Federline agreed, saying, “Man, you’re telling me.”

The pair went ahead with their wedding as planned. Spears and Federline married in September 2004 in a surprise ceremony in Studio City, California. However, their relationship would later face several challenges, leading to their separation in 2006 and divorce in 2007.

Kevin Federline reflected on Britney Spears and Justin’s history

Kevin Federline also mentioned that after getting married, he knew that Spears was not over Timberlake fully. Nevertheless, he claimed to know that Timberlake was her first love and the separation had been painful.

“I couldn’t imagine what it was like to be her. I couldn’t imagine or feel what it was like to be Justin in those moments because they were super young, right?” he said. “You’re talking teenagers that had to go through this globally. And I know that they really cared about each other back then.”

Timberlake and Spears were in a relationship from 1999 to 2002. Later on, Spears acknowledged that she cheated on him with her choreographer, Wade Robson. The separation made massive media coverage back then, straining the pair of performers.

In response to Federline’s comments, a representative for Spears told Us Weekly, “Once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism.”

Ferderline has not responded to the comments from Spears' representative as of the time of this writing.
