Popular YouTuber Schlep has pushed back against Roblox after the gaming platform banned him, accusing him of violating its rules. The YouTuber, who has over 600,000 subscribers, is known for creating “predator hunter” content, claiming to help expose child predators. Roblox, however, says his actions break community standards and create risks for its users.

At the start of August, Schlep was banned from Roblox and told that legal action could follow. Roblox accused him of several violations, including “simulated child endangerment conversations” and “encouraging users to move conversations off-platform.” Schlep says these claims are false and damaging to his reputation.

The ban has sparked debate. Many players and parents are concerned about safety on Roblox, while others argue that banning Schlep removes someone who was helping the community. The issue has grown, with a petition calling for Roblox CEO David Baszucki’s resignation passing 250,000 signatures.

Roblox’s stance on predator hunters

Roblox has said that predator hunters like Schlep create unsafe conditions. In a statement to the media, Roblox said:

“Taking the law into their own hands isn't safe in the real world and it's not safe online. That's why we work with law enforcement to hold bad actors accontable. Many experts agree independent actors impersonating others and luring users to other platforms for sexually explicit conversations can never be safe."

The company stressed that only law enforcement should investigate criminal activity. Roblox defended its decision to ban Schlep and others following a similar path. Even if the intention is to protect children, the company said, the way these YouTubers work can create risks of harm. Roblox believes that simulated conversations and off-platform activity may encourage unsafe behavior for minors.

In its latest statement on August 28, Roblox repeated that it is committed to keeping the platform safe. The company said it will continue to hold “bad actors” accountable and not allow content that promotes unsafe methods of catching predators.

He strongly denies Roblox’s claims:

“Roblox just made another statement to the media repeating the same sentiment ‘that I’m taking the law into my own hands.’ How is handing the information to the cops, them making arrests, ‘taking the law into my own hands’,” he posted on X.
He added, “This is NOT True. Stop lying about me.”

Schlep’s response to Roblox

The YouTuber argues that he does not act as a vigilante:

“I am not a vigilante. I report my findings to law enforcement and Roblox. What’s shocking is that police consistently find enough evidence to bring criminal charges, yet in multiple instances, Roblox refuses to take action until the situation is made public,” he explained.

He also said he has been in touch with Chris Hansen, host of To Catch a Predator. Hansen has expressed interest in making a documentary about the controversy. Schlep sees this as a chance to show his side of the story and explain his methods in detail.
