Nicole Brown Simpson’s sister, Tanya Brown, compared Sean Diddy Combs’ case to that of O.J. Simpson. In a conversation with Brian Entin of News Nation on May 22, 2025, Brown urged people following the ongoing trial not to judge Cassie Ventura as they haven't walked in her shoes.

Tanya Brown said she got to know about Nicole’s case through its court trial. Being ten years younger than Nicole Brown Simpson, she witnessed her sister’s battered face in court. Brian Entin pointed out that there were interesting parallels between Diddy and O.J. Simpson’s case.

Referring to the text messages that showed how Cassie expressed her love for Combs, Entin said abuse could also exist at the same time. Tanya Brown said:

“Absolutely. You know, they don’t engage with the monster. The monster somehow appears. Nicole didn’t marry the monster. The monster appeared. The cycle of violence is all about power and control.”

She added:

“And when you have a person who is so not only influential, but powerful and has money. And then all of a sudden, you are this 18/19-year-old girl who may have been enamored. I don’t know. I have never had the conversation with Nick but maybe she was enamored.”

Brian Entin noted that Nicole Brown Simpson would have turned 66 on May 19, 2025. Tanya Brown talked about Cassie Ventura’s situation and hoped Cassie’s family could find stability and peace. She shared that she had once avoided dealing with her trauma, grief, stress, and anxiety.

Tanya Brown pointed out that Cassie would likely be judged no matter what, and she asked people following the case to avoid being judgmental since the family’s privacy had already been taken from them.

Tanya Brown on the docu-series about Nicole Brown Simpson

In 2024, Lifetime released a docu-series about Nicole Brown Simpson’s murder. Tanya Brown told Entin that she learned a lot from the series. She said the situation taught her about the cycle of violence, which she believed was rooted in power and control.

Tanya shared that before a recent documentary series, the only recording she had of Nicole Brown Simpson's voice was from a 911 call where Nicole sounded terrified. She recalled how the operator on that call casually referred to O.J. as “the sports star.”

Tanya criticized how society often gets distracted by celebrity status and fame, which she felt affected people and culture. Commenting on Diddy’s case, she said:

“And to the people who are viewing this case, this trial, be a little bit sensitive because you have never walked in somebody’s shoes until you actually have. This woman was under somebody’s thumb.”

Tanya Brown expressed relief that the events surrounding her sister happened three decades ago rather than in today’s social media-driven world. She believed that online platforms had become a space where bullies thrived, and those bullies sometimes pushed people to their breaking point.

Because of this, she encouraged Cassie Ventura and her family to seek support, warning that they might come across upsetting and triggering comments online.

Tanya also mentioned that a lot of the information circulating about Nicole Brown Simpson and the family wasn’t accurate, and she encouraged people to come directly to her if they wanted the truth.
