On September 21, geographer Rebekah Jones shared a lengthy X post, which was seemingly targeted at Charlie Kirk. Following that, YouTuber Amiri King reacted to the post, writing that Jones’s son was arrested in 2023 for allegedly threatening to cause physical harm to a school.
According to a CNN report from 2023, her 13-year-old son was taken into custody on grounds of making threatening remarks. Subsequently, Jones tweeted that her son was back, mentioning that he only sent memes to his friends, which were not concerning.
Meanwhile, in her recent X post, Jones wrote that the podcaster who lost his life in the shooting incident in Utah wasn’t a good person. According to her:
“The podcaster who was killed in Utah was a f**king creep. Goofy-a** looking grown man who flunked out of college and could never let it go. He grifted off completely fabricated stories about "oppression against conservatives." His entire persona was a gimmick steeped in theocratic and white supremacy.”
Responding to her X post, Amiri King made five claims about Rebekah Jones, writing:
“Your son was arrested in April 2023 for allegedly threatening to shoot up a school. He was subsequently sentenced to probation.”
What were Amiri King’s other claims about Rebekah Jones?
Amiri King said that Rebekah Jones’ house was searched by police in December 2020, and they took her phone and computers. She then shared her story online and raised more than $500,000.
King alleged that in December 2022, she admitted to a felony computer crime and had to pay a $20,000 fine, do community service, and go to counseling. Even though she told people her charges were dropped, others quickly pointed out that this was not true.
King further wrote:
“In June 2023, you plead no contest to a cyberstalking charge. The charge came from allegations that you harassed and published n*de photos of a former Florida State University student, where you were previously employed as a teacher (and later dismissed.)”
The fifth claim about Rebekah Jones that King made was:
“You have a battery charge against a police officer in Louisiana in 2016.”
What more did Rebekah Jones say about the podcaster?
In her X post, Rebekah Jones wrote that the podcaster was hateful toward many groups of people and supported the attack on the country. She said he often wished harm on his political opponents and supported people who hurt others.
In her view, he should have been in jail, but instead he was shot. She added that the only thing he became known for was being the first American assassination people saw shared on TikTok in such high quality.
Jones further mentioned:
“He wasn't a Rhodes scholar shot in the face while seeing a movie in Colorado. He wasn't an elected official in Minnesota murdered for defending women's rights. He wasn't a first grader left bleeding to death in the company of a crazed gunman. He wasn't gunned down for flying a flag outside his clothing store. He was a bad person who said horrible things on his mid-tier little podcast.”
Rebekah Jones wrote that everyone eventually dies, but that does not erase the harm some people caused while alive. She believed that when someone who spent their life hurting others passed away, the world became a better place. She also said Charlie Kirk was not deserving of all the attention his death received and felt people should not accept the official day of mourning set for October 14.
