Sean 'Diddy' Combs is reportedly awaiting his October 3 sentencing, while prosecutors are emphasising a longer jail time for the rapper. The rapper has been acquitted of the most serious charges in the s*x trafficking trial but will be charged with two minor counts for aiding transportation "to engage in prostitution", per USA Today.
While there is some time for Diddy's verdict, it has been questioned if his former "friend", Donald Trump, would pardon his charges. Over time, the latter has publicly disclosed that he had been on good terms with Combs but noted that it had changed when he was running for office. In a resurfaced video shared by 50 Cent on Instagram, Combs can be heard speaking critically of Trump.
In a "message" to "everybody", Combs noted that Trump "was trying to turn everyone against each other" and, on being selected, there would be a "race war." The clip is a part of a longer interview with Revolt Magazine from October 2020, where Combs endorsed support for Joe Biden. At another point in the interview, Combs could be heard saying,
"White men like Trump need to be banished."
POTUS describes Diddy as "difficult to do" and seemingly doesn't affirm his pardoning
All eyes are on Donald Trump, who has previously pardoned other celebrities, including rappers Lil Wayne and NBA YoungBoy, who were convicted of gun possession charges. Deadline had reported that POTUS had noted that he would "certainly look at the facts", while considering a pardon for the rapper in the Oval Office in May 2025.
However, in a recent interview with Rob Finnerty on Newsmax, Trump noted that while he considers Diddy "half innocent", he turned "hostile" during presidential campaigns. He added that the "terrible statements" could "cloud" his judgment and make it "more difficult to do."
From the most recent interview, it appears that POTUS may not be in favour of pardoning Combs. Trump attributed it less to the charges, but more to the rapper's comments and behaviour during the former's presidential run.
