On July 12, 2025, Donald Trump posted a strong message on his Truth Social account relating to comedian Rosie O’Donnell. As per the reports by Reuters, he said he was “giving serious consideration” to taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s US citizenship. He also called her a “Threat to Humanity” and said she should stay in Ireland, where she now lives.

The post read:

“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

The news spread fast. Reports by The Daily Beast suggest that it came after Rosie criticized how the government handled flood warnings in Texas. She said budget cuts made warning systems worse, and blamed Trump’s decisions for the deaths there.

Rosie O’Donnell Speaks Out, Donald Trump Pushes Back

The reports by Politico states that after Donald Trump suggested revoking her US citizenship, Rosie O’Donnell quickly fired back on social media. In an Instagram post, she said,

"the president of the usa has always hated the fact that i see him for who he is - a criminal con man sexual abusing liar out to harm our nation to serve himself - this is why i moved to ireland."

She also said that Trump is a

"a dangerous old soulless man with dementia who lacks empathy compassion and basic humanity."

As per the reports by Daily Beast, O’Donnell also spoke about her move to Ireland earlier this year. She said the decision was made for her family’s safety and her child’s well-being. In past videos, she mentioned that she would only return to the US when all citizens had equal rights. Her words came just days after she criticized Trump’s role in cutting funding for federal weather programs, which she believes contributed to the deadly Texas floods over the Fourth of July weekend.

Trump has not responded directly to Rosie’s comments since her Instagram post, but his original Truth Social message remains public. The wait is to see how this takes shape in the future. Would Donald Trump reply? Would Rosie say something new? Time will tell.

The feud between Donald Trump & Rosie O’Donnell

As per the reports by Ary News, the feud between Donald Trump & Rosie O’Donnell started in 2006. Rosie was on The View and spoke about Trump’s behavior. Trump got upset and called her names, starting a feud that has lasted almost 20 years.

This month, Rosie shared a TikTok video from Ireland about the July 4 floods in Texas. She said,

"What a horror story in Texas. And you know, when the president guts all the early warning systems and the weathering forecast abilities of the government, these are the results that we’re gonna start to see on a daily basis."

Trump later visited Texas and said his teams "did an incredible job under the circumstances".

The reports by Investigating and Page Six mentioned that Rosie moved to Ireland in January with her 12-year-old child. She says they will return to the US when there are “equal rights for all citizens”. She is applying for Irish citizenship because of her Irish roots. She has said living in Ireland feels safe, and that she misses her other children, family, and home.
