DJ Enuff recently bid goodbye to Hot 97 after working there for nearly 30 years. Following his exit, he told TMZ that he thought Funk Flex had something to do with his removal. Subsequently, Flex dismissed the claims, saying he had nothing to do with Enuff getting fired from Hot 97.
Meanwhile, radio disc jockey Peter Rosenberg addressed the situation in a recent episode of his and Cipha Sounds’s Juan Ep Is Life podcast. Sharing his thoughts about Flex, he said:
“Flex is willing to do whatever it takes. He's going to build relationships. He's going to be in the building. He's going to, you know, from what I've gathered from other people, Enuff is not a politics guy. Never has been a good back office politics guy. He's just a great man. Great man. Great DJ. That's it.”
Cipha added to the conversation, saying that Funk Flex had a good relationship with the new boss. He said if someone wants to be on Hot 97 but not speak to the boss at every hour of the day, they must get on Flex’s side. He also said:
“I could have stayed at Hot 97. It would have been shifted around. It would have been lesser than the morning show, but if I wanted to, I could have stayed there. I made a choice to leave. Some people stayed much much longer and seems like they wanted to stay.”
Peter Rosenberg believes Funk Flex was not behind DJ Enuff’s dismissal
As the conversation with Cipha Sounds rolled on, Rosenberg clarified he did not think Funk Flex got DJ Enuff fired. He said:
“I do not believe that Flex said, ‘You need to fire DJ Enuff.’ I do believe that everything Flex said about their relationship being love was the biggest croc of horsesh*t I've ever heard in my life. But I all, you see what I'm saying? But I don't believe either are true. But I also don't believe he had him fired.”
Cipha Sounds explained that it didn’t matter what Funk Flex said about Enuff because Enuff was already gone from the radio station. He said people could talk about what happened or didn’t happen, but it made no difference since DJ Enuff had moved on and now had new rivals.
Peter shared that TMZ asked Enuff about the situation. At first, Enuff didn’t seem like he wanted to insult Flex, but when pushed, he admitted he thought Flex had him fired. Cipha added that Enuff often made comments like that in private, kind of throwing little jabs, but overall, he was a chill and cool person.
Cipha thought DJ Enuff basically hinted that Flex might have been involved, but it wasn’t clear if Funk Flex directly told the boss to fire him or if it happened another way.
