Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico, was seemingly touched inappropriately by a person while she was at an event. As seen in a video posted by the X account “@RT_com,” the man initially attempted to hug her from the side while she interacted with others. He then seemingly tried to kiss her and also attempted to touch her inappropriately.

Another person intervened, and then he seemed to have a chat with the President. Social media users reacted to the video, with one user criticizing the security at the place. They wrote:

“When you get your security from Twitch.”

In similar lines, another online commentator said:

“She should use this as a good reason to reevaluate her security.”

A third user claimed:

“Non existent security, but if anything she's well aware that she's in danger because of cartels - that is why she enables them to do whatever they want.”

Others commented that the person should be punished, as one X user wrote:

“They need to lock him up. Piece of sh*t probably does that all the time to people without security. Why are they laughing.”

An X user speculated that the incident could seemingly be an attempt to create confusion and malign Claudia Sheinbaum. They mentioned:

“It’s probably part of the plan. A staged mini scandal to distract from the many real problems in the country and wide indignation against her government. Inconceivable to put the head of State and government in such a position.”

Another social media user wrote that nobody could try to hurt Claudia Sheinbaum. They opined:

“Security knows nobody’s gonna make a hit on her she’s a protected asset.”

What did Claudia Sheinbaum say about making education accessible?

In a recent press conference, the Mexican President emphasized the importance of higher education, calling it a huge responsibility. She said that before she became the President, she was a university professor for many years. Claudia Sheinbaum said (translated):

“I am also very proud of my life as a student, not only for what it meant to be part of a public university but for what a generation fought for the right to education represented. In those times, we fought so that no one would be turned away, so that there would be no tuition fees, so that public education would truly be free, humanistic, and scientific.”

Claudia Sheinbaum stated she still fought for these rights, noting that education is a right for everyone. It meant that nobody should be turned away from receiving an education. Every young student who wants to pursue upper secondary education should not be denied the same. The President said:

“If a young person has a passing grade from the previous semester, they have the right to continue with the next semester. It’s as simple as that. And the more educational spaces we open in our country, the more humanistic education we build, in the sense of recognising the great values that gave rise to Mexico.”

Claudia Sheinbaum further mentioned that this humanistic system, although universal, is based on the history and values of the Mexican people. She said opening more educational spaces could reduce violent activities, allowing for more peace and security.
