Rosie O'Donnell's birthplace question has suddenly become a matter of national interest following President Trump’s recent remarks. The POTUS recently took to social media to target Rosie's citizenship while expressing his disapproval of her comments on the Trump Administration's handling of Texas floods.
Rosie O’Donnell has been a prominent figure in American entertainment since the 1980s, and has American roots. She was born on March 21, 1962, in Commack, Long Island, New York, according to official paperwork. While she had fled to Ireland in the wake of Trump's presidential win, she has been very critical of the administration's handling of the Texas floods.
While Donald Trump's recent remarks had caused many to become wary of Rosie's citizenship status, it is worth noting that her American citizenship is constitutionally protected and cannot be revoked by presidential whim. The same has been confirmed by various legal experts as well.
What caused tensions to rise between Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump?
The feud between Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell has been running over the past 20 years ever since the former gave a critique of Trump for the manner in which he tackled a controversial issue during his days as the owner of the Miss Universe Organization back in 2006. Even Donald Trump has not avoided taking shots at her, and he reportedly likened her to an animal in the 2015 Republican Primary Debate.
The animosity between the two came to the surface once again recently, when Rosie lambasted the authorities for how they have managed the Texas floods, which have taken the lives of more than 120 people as of today. She even blamed the Trump administration's previous actions, which prompted Donald Trump to address the comments himself. On his Truth Social account, Trump was quoted as saying:
“Because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"
Rosie, for her part, has not wavered in her criticism of President Trump and those close to him. After the POTUS' remarks, she released a statement on Instagram in which she doubled down on her criticism by saying:
"The president of the usa has always hated the fact that i see him for who he is - a criminal con man sexual-abusing liar out to harm our nation to serve himself," O'Donnell wrote on Instagram. "This is why i moved to ireland - he is a dangerous old soulless man with dementia who lacks empathy, compassion, and basic humanity. I stand in direct opposition [to] all he represents- so do millions of others - u gonna deport all who stand against ur evil tendencies - ur a bad joke who can't form a coherent sentence"
Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump's feuds have often played out in the public sphere over the past years. But with Rosie's recent remarks on Trump's administration and the subsequent lashing out by the President, their feud has now crossed a dangerous line by threatening citizenship.
