Recording artist and Fort Worth musician Christopher Jerome Blanton, was reportedly arrested on Monday after a fatal shooting. According to CBS News, Blanton, popularly recognised by his stage name, C'ing Jerome, allegedly shot 32-year-old Cody Davontae Scott during a "traffic encounter."
According to an affidavit secured by the news outlet, Blanton's co-passenger allegedly revealed the details of the shooting, while noting that the victim's car windows were tinted. Additionally, they told the police that before shooting, Blanton told them to lean backwards in the seat.
Fort Worth police spokesperson Buddy Calzada reported that there was no "confrontation" and clarified that it was not a "road rage accident," adding,
"This individual that shot at this victim literally thought that they were either being followed or chased. They don't know each other, they don't have any kind of connection from the past."

Christopher Jerome Blanton was arrested following a fatal traffic encounter, with the recording artist shooting the victim from the car.
According to his website, Blanton is the owner of "hood country", which represents a blend of music styles, including, “innovative blend of country, R&B, and hip-hop.” Some projects by the 29-year-old local singer include,
"ABC (2024), Beautiful Day (2023), Average Joe (2023), and Barn Dont Close (2022)."
According to Fort Worth police, Blanton was arrested approximately "three miles down" from the scene. They added that he was reportedly on his way to the studio when the encounter took place. Buddy Calzada also revealed witness statements following the incident and noted,
"They said that the suspect vehicle was actually behind the victim's vehicle and then pulled up next to it, and that's when the shots were fired."
Cody's sister, Destiny, spoke to CBS News, describing it as a tragic and "unnecessary" incident. She revealed Cody is survived by his wife and six-month-old daughter. She added,
"Being a first-time father, he started to enjoy it so much. We talked about it every day. He made videos with his baby and pictures every single day nonstop. He was enjoying being a father."
Christopher Jerome Blanton is currently being held in a detention facility on a $30,000 bond. News outlets revealed the investigation is ongoing.
