Jenna Leurquin is a pastry chef, entrepreneur, and the founder of JL Patisserie, a bakery based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her bakery gained attention for serving authentic European-style pastries made with quality ingredients and using traditional methods.

In October 2025, Jenna Leurquin became widely discussed online after responding to a food influencer who posted a negative review of her bakery. The influencer stated that some of the ingredients were fake and that the items were overall on the costlier side. Jenna responded by stating that the influencer had asked for a collab and when she did not get it, she spread lies. The situation, later called “Pastrygate,” turned into a viral debate.

The controversy drew attention to how social media can affect local businesses. It also raised questions about how creators and entrepreneurs communicate with each other online.

Jenna Leurquin’s career and JL Patisserie

Jenna Leurquin studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, where she was taught professional pastry. Then, she served under a number of European chefs and made a decision to open her own bakery in Arizona in 2018. She aimed at introducing the local people to the local taste and procedure of French baking.

JL Patisserie is recognized by its croissants, macarons, and tarts. Jenna Leurquin also focused on the use of imported ingredients such as European flour and pistachio paste to make her pastries authentic. She also encouraged openness in the sourcing and baking process.

JL Patisserie under her leadership also developed a loyal customer base and increased due to its exposure through social media. The reputation of traditional craftsmanship and the stable quality of this establishment also helped the bakery be amongst the most recognized bakeries in Scottsdale.

The viral feud known as “Pastrygate”

The viral incident started with the case of a negative TikTok review by influencer Aurora Griffo (Glamorama) about JL Patisserie. She described the products negatively, raised the question of the authenticity of ingredients, and claimed that the prices were excessive. The video has been viewed by millions of people within a short period.

Jenna reacted by posting photos of the influencer supposedly requesting free food in return for a positive review. The influencer refuted the statement, but she acknowledged that she occasionally changed her tone when working with brands. Jenna then published a video of the ingredients of the bakery and told how she made her products.

The video triggered a significant online debate. Jenna was supported by many social media users who claimed that she defended small business owners who tend to be victimized by online creators.
