Senegalese-Italian influencer Khaby Lame has reportedly been arrested in Las Vegas. The news of his arrest first surfaced on social media platforms like X. For instance, according to a post by the X account @BoLoudon from June 7, 2025:
“Far-left ILLEGAL ALIEN TikToker Khaby Lame was just ARRESTED and is now in ICE custody under President Trump. I discovered he was an illegal who overstayed an invalid VISA, evaded taxes, and I personally took action to have him deported.”
However, none of the claims are official at the time of writing the story. Khaby Lame became globally popular during the COVID-19 pandemic for his silent reactions to life hack videos on TikTok.
Another post by the same X account mentioned that Lame was placed at the Henderson Detention Center. His post contains a screenshot of the TikToker’s details on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s website.
As seen in the screengrab, Lame’s full name is listed as Serigne Khabane Lame, and his birth country is Senegal. The status shows that he is in ICE custody. In another post, the X account holder wrote:
“To verify, go to ICE's Locator, type the A-number, and Senegal as country.”
However, social media users claimed this was a bluff, as many said the news was fake.
“I can't find his name in the database,” an X user wrote.
“You falsified the story to gain attention. Pathetic,” a netizen reacted.
“Looked up the A-Number and nothing. Please only post the truth,” a social media user shared.
“This is fake and ret*rded. Typed in the a number and bio info and nothing came up. F**king disgrace you are,” an online commentator mentioned.
What did Khaby Lame reject offers?
In 2023, Khaby Lame sat down with Steve Bertoni of Forbes. When asked about what his brand stood for, he explained that his brand operated as an Italian company focused on international management, while he focused only on creating content and making videos.
He received many work offers but turned down most of them because he wanted to stay true to his values. He stayed away from anything related to alcohol or cigarettes and refused to promote products harmful to people, especially since many of his followers were children. Bertoni asked how he started making content, and Khaby Lame replied:
“I started making videos when I was very, very young. I started at about 13 years of age.”
As mentioned, his TikTok content gained traction during the pandemic. He said:
“I started out. It didn’t go very well right away. It took quite a while before things took off.”
Khaby Lame shared that when he came across a video idea, he aimed to recreate it as perfectly as possible. He paid close attention to details such as costumes and locations, no matter how much effort it took. If a scene needed something specific, like a truck, he made sure to find one.
He and his team watched many videos to study the outfits and setups, and they spent two to three days working on each one. Sometimes, they created 50 to 70 videos at once to post over the following months.
