San Diego YouTuber Mikey Rijavec is reportedly missing after he issued a mayday call while he was 8 miles away from the Mexican coast. He was on a fishing expedition on November 11 when, at around 2:30 p.m., he requested help. As per officials, he was struggling with the engine of his water vehicle. According to The US Sun, although he was being assisted by fellow fishermen, the call disconnected.Mikey Rijavec's water vehicle, a skiff, was discovered. However, the engine attached to it was not found. As per reports, a search is underway. One of his friends, Phil Friedman, told NBC San Diego:“He’s an adventurer. He pushes the envelope. That’s part of what we love about him.”Phil also speculated:“What could have happened? Oh my God, it's endless. It could be foul play. You never know, it's something that happens at sea sometimes. It could be a whale, it could be a shark. The hope is that Mikey was able to get off and swim to shore - maybe he’s exhausted, unconscious, maybe he’s on shore, that is our hope. He worked as an intern and project engineer at Webcor. In 2015, he joined Largo Concrete, Inc. as a project manager and worked there for almost six years.A GoFundMe has been started by Mikey Rijavec’s brother GregoryAccording to The Daily Mail, Mikey Rijavec’s brother Gregory had started a GoFundMe page to keep the search going. He said that the local fishing community had worked very hard to help find Mikey and bring him home safely.Gregory explained that they were using every resource they could, like boats and aircraft, and that donations would help pay for fuel and pilots. He also encouraged everyone to send good wishes to Mikey and stay hopeful.As mentioned in his LinkedIn biography, Mikey Rijavec described himself as:“I’m a passionate entrepreneur looking to continue my success with fishing through YouTube and social media while expanding into the commercial fishing industry with a multifunctional license and operation.”He further mentioned:“I also have dreams progressing my passion for Cannabis Oils that I've been making at home to treat a tumor in my bladder and enhance my overall well being. My mission is to spread my positive energy and make every person I come in contact with better.”Mikey Rijavec’s YouTube channel, SD Fish and Sips, has over 19,000 subscribers. In the description, he wrote that his channel helped him share his passion with the rest of the world. He wrote that the journey began in his kayak and as he continued working, he managed to get a motor vehicle called Solo Skiff.
